These are fun to make, but time consuming.
(a fic you'd 100% write) in the aftermath of a very bad™ mission, Mac thinks of everything he did wrong and how his mistakes could have cost his friends' lives. he's guilty, fidgety and anxious. Jack gives him his leather handcuff to play with. they talk. Angst + fluff fest
Oh ho. Leather cuff! I'm definitely trying to figure out how to get that into a fic somewhere. This sounds like something I would definitely like to write, with flash backs to the action from both povs for angst value perhaps. 😉
(Ooh and maybe a story about the cuff to boot.)
Thanks for playing!!
Leather cuff in progress.
Welp, I am approximately eleventy MILLION years late to the “make Rey’s bracer” party, but here it is!
Me being an obsessive perfectionist, it took the better part of a day to design the pattern – I even had the McCall’s pattern for a jumping-off point, but that turned out to be terrible, like, the layers were badly proportioned, and the smallest it could fit was a 9″ wrist, what the hell, and it wasn’t adjustable at all. I went through about six different paper patterns and three rejected leather prototypes before I settled on an acceptable final version.
But good news! Now that all that’s out of the way, it turns out they are really quick to make, and I am pleased to be able to offer them for a cool $25 a pop, shipping out basically overnight. They are, in the words of the housemate I was testing them on, “super comfortable!” and will adjust to fit wrists anywhere between 6″-10″. (It’s also reversible, as you can see in the pictures above, which is kind of nifty.)
And because I’d hate for all my effort to go under-utilized, DIY-minded folks are welcome to use my pattern (it is as-or-more-screen-accurate than anything else you’ll find) – or, if you’d like Rey’s bracer in some lovely oil-tan leather that has been waiting for just this occasion, you can check it out at my shop. 😊
