I saw a clip from that interview Sam and Neil did and one of the questions they got was "what is Soap or Ghost's ideal date" to which Sam replied that Ghost isn't the type to date. When I heard that, I could only think it was the perfect response and anything else would've completely squicked me out because he's so right and I'm gonna use it as an excuse to ramble about a few of my headcanons for Ghost :]
One of the reasons this makes sense to me is because Ghost undoubtedly and undeniably has deep rooted trust issues. I feel like most people agree on that and it's a lukewarm take at best. But naturally, someone who's been through what Ghost has will keep everyone at an arm's length. Getting to know someone well enough to even call them a friend is almost out of the question, nevermind date them. Ghost has been betrayed and preyed on so many times by the people he trusts that I genuinely have a hard time believing he'd allow someone to get that close to him, for the sake of his own physical and emotional well-being. He's probably constantly paranoid, looking over his shoulder, and watching his own back because no one in his life has ever done it for him and the only person he truly trusts to be reliable is himself.
That all feels like a given but the other headcanon I have regarding the issue is; I believe that Ghost has an overwhelming amount of survivor's guilt. People he cared about were murdered all for the sake of hurting him and that weighs heavily on him. He feels responsible for it even though there wasn't anything he could do. There's a sense of self-loathing that grows from that and it constantly reminds him of what happened and tells him it's his fault. Not only does this fuel his motivation to keep his emotional walls high but in the event he miraculously did find and bond with someone enough to want to date them, he still wouldn't. In Ghost's mind, people around him get hurt, that's just how things work for him. The best way he shows he cares is to push them away because otherwise, he's convinced that they'll be hurt too. And on top of everything else, Ghost rejects care, comfort, and affection because he's convinced that any part of him worthy of love died with "Simon."
Anyways, that's my rambles and I wanted to spit them out because they were stuck in my head all day lol
