There's a funny dynamic reversal in the russian Sherlock Holmes series, compared to the Soviet one. (At least this is how I see it, I could be way off😂).

In the Soviet series, Watson is a young army doctor coming to London and befriends this older weirdo.

Holmes is almost like a doc Brown to his Marty. I love it they are so soft and sweet with eachother.

And in the 2013 Russian version, Watson is an older army doctor, RIDDLED with PTSD. He is like a traumatized guard dog. Would love nothing more than take a nap or work on his writing. Then he meets this freaky, super smart but manic guy in his twenties and moves in with him! He even starts teaching him how to box!

I think they are more bound together in: "nobody can handle being around me but you". But it's still sweet.☺️

Anyway I haven't finished either show fully yet, but this is the vibes I'm picking up on. I just love the different types of age gap friendship on display here.

the one thing I really really like about changing Percy telling camp about Kronos to him being in person is how much it really emphasizes the way that the rest of camp, and the rest of the world of the gods even, really sees Percy for how powerful and commanding he really is.

The books are all from Percy’s pov and he does not take himself seriously. So far all the changes being made have been to show us all the things Percy’s (arguably) unreliable narrative don’t allow us to see.

And while I’m surprised at the change to the battle at the end, I will admit that it’s a very, very good way of really setting the tone of these next books. Yes these are children but this is a war and with the tv show we’re getting to see a side of it we didn’t see till much later in the books.

ALSO the weight of using this to show Percy the weight of his decisions, the true impact of his choices?? Annabeth was hurt again, and he had the fleece again, and he looked at her and knew he had to save camp. Yeah, Annabeth would have been fine, but a few episodes ago Percy would’ve argued to heal her first before throwing away the fleece.

Ugh I’m obsessed with the narrative choices of these changes

For xmas, I was given some new toys to play with. I was reminiscing about how I missed painting minis and a friend of mine mentioned they were too scared to ruin their minis, so they wanted to live vicariously through me.

So here I am. In the year 2026 and I've finally fallen down the Warhammer hole. I already want to buy, build and paint more and I haven't even finished the ones I've been given.

I'm a little nervous that I don't have the right brushes for detailing, but at the point I'm at in the paint, I'm genuinely still so excited to see how they turn out. Welcome, to the beginning of my Blood Angel Legion.

currently obsessing over the idea of both phil and cellbit being unable to sleep. cellbit going on a walk across the island, finding phil sitting outside his house on the little pier just watching the world go by. both having their own worries and problems, finding comfort in the idea they've been through a lot together. phil offering cellbit a seat and they just sit in silence together. every now and again they would bring up some sort of conversation, about how richas was doing, or how the house was coming along, but other than that, just nestled in a comforting silence.

but after a couple times of this occurring, they start to breach more deeper subjects. more of what happened during both purgatorys. phils issue with the enderking and cellbits current conflict with roier and whatever is happening with him at that point. cellbit begins to be reminded that phil is a father figure to him, whether they see each other often or not.

sometimes they'll talk over a mug of something warm. other times they'll go on walks around their small island while they chat, sometimes the conversations will go on for hours, other times only a couple of minutes. it didn't matter, though. they simply spoke about whatever they needed to at the time. cellbit found comfort in having somebody to look up to, and phil found comfort in finding someone to reassure him of his worries about his children.

our archivists have my heart, it's a shame they aren't online at the same time much.

i don't know if i'm reading too much into things but pondering the fact that corbeau 1) has a name related to crows 2) is extremely short and 3) throws his pokeballs like a volleyball serve... i really wonder if how he throws is a cheeky haikyuu reference since that's a series where the main lead is also. a little guy and the main team's name is connected to crows
