Looks like fixing @studiodeltaparis 's DMX15-80S is approaching completion... ☺️ . These AMS machines definitely do NOT like to be moved from one place to another without first triple-checking not only the correct seating of the 15 daughter-boards inside it, but ALSO disconnecting and then patiently reconnecting ALL the 9 ribbon cables which tie all of the boards of the Harmoniser section together (and with the main CPU too!). That solved most of the issues it had when it came back to my workshop 😊 . This very unit has a history with me: it took me more than two years to get it back to normal, fixing all the faults there were inside... After repair was over, its owner sold it to the friendly and cute, parisian Studio Delta (👌) but they could use it for a couple of weeks only... until it crashed again! 😥 That's why I had to take it to the workbench once again. . Fortunately, and as said above, most of the audio issues it had came from bad connections. (Parisian producer) #MarlonB 's DMX15-80S had start-up issues again! This time, another PCB track was cut somewhere on the board between the outputs of the address bus buffers and the inputs of the CPU's peripheral demux... . Now that the missing link has been recovered, DMX boots up fine again! 👌 (displayed is the harmonizer software version 2.316 at start-up 😉) . HURRAYYYY!!! 😊😊😊 . So glad I just found one of the last culprits in this historical DHM89B2 owned by the world-class studios of the Groupe de recherches musicales of the french Institut national de l'audiovisuel!!! . A faulty 4066 chip had some of its transmission gates letting signals pass even though their corresponding control inputs were low... causing extreme random switching of the op-amp that compares the DC values of each "Crosspoint" potentiometers... which in turn made the switch from forward- to reverse-playing (and back) of the digital audio samples (switching that is actually controlled by the position of these very pots) extremely noisy when both pots were at more or less precisely the same value! And that would in turn produce very harsh and loud digital noises... 😱 .
