🔪🔪🔪 sleep comes deceptively easily, even with all that's occurred doesn't it ? oftentimes it's a light sleep, the dreamless type that's so skittish it rips away at the slightest crackle of the fire . tonight though, it seems that's not the case .
❝ putain de merde— &. here i thought i was the one far ahead of schedule ! ❞ it used to be a fun little challenge between the two of you, wasn't it ? being that léo, rather infamously known for tearing through the streets &. across the rooftops at breakneck pace, was often the first to complete his daily deliveries by a long margin it was a good-spirited challenge . if you managed to finish yours before him— &. no few of the other couriers impressed that it was certainly a feat to achieve, he'd treat you to somewhere of your choice . ❝ slippery little eel, aren't you ... ah well, a deal is a deal, maelle ! ❞ his hands raise, still a little slick with the sweat of exertion it took to get here ( not much better off than you are, really ), &. ruffled fondly into your bright hair . ❝ anywhere you want— on my coin . you won fair and square . ❞
the dream flickers unpleasantly, like sunlight caught on rough waves— almost blindingly so . or, perhaps as the waking world welcomes you, it was not the dream but the campfire flickering . that was the first time you beat him, wasn't it ? he was fast . ( not fast enough . )
// Thank you for breaking my heart and Maelle's heart, Jack.
