Here's some information on our Artist in residence program and the application process:
Le CouveNt , "lieu de convergence artistique" is a creative space dedicated to music, visual artists, dancers, writers, filmmakers...
The premises are located in Auzits, a village in the Aveyron, in the south west of France, they comprise an ancient convent, school and barn, and have been (partly) restored over the last four years with a view to preserving the history and style of the buildings. Located at the top of the village, the Couvent d'Auzits has breathtaking views of the surroundings and the Cantal and Aubrac mounts.
The program includes residencies, workshops, coaching sessions in music and voice, concerts, exhibitions, performances, etc...
Although located on the countryside, Le CouveNt works with a large and rich network of professional artists and technicians (for sound, lighting, etc.) in the area and it is also well integrated in the village and the region, and recognized as an important cultural and arts venue in the area.
The founder and administrator of the residency, Sergio Piterbarg, is an Orchestral Conductor, Composer and Music Performance Coach.
The premises comprise several working spaces (individual or shared), an exhibition’s room, concert venues (in the chapel of the convent or in the barn), bedrooms, a spacious common kitchen/dining room, sitting area...
This project is supported by the European Union through the LEADER funds. Encouraging the implementation of integrated, high-quality and original strategies for sustainable cultural and artistic development, It has a strong focus on partnership and networks of exchange of experience.
