Lee Edwards
Lee Edwards, ''Son of Celluloid'' by Clive Barker, 1991 "Has any of your work caused controversy or indeed ever been banned? LE: I remember at least one cover being rejected as it was felt to be over the top. When I did Clive Barker’s Son of Celluloid I painted a disfigured Marilyn Monroe for the cover. I felt there were bound to be howls of outrage from dedicated Marilyn fans. She is such an icon for some people. In the event the publishers received just one solitary complaint. I was really disappointed."

ROUND 1 — Match 197 of 276
Kronya (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)
Problematic because: "She’s part of TWSITD, the secret Agarthan group doing most of the murder-science and manipulation behind the scenes, and she infiltrates Garreg Mach by pretending to be Monica, a real Black Eagles student who had gone missing. In Three Houses, Seteth even says the real Monica was probably killed and replaced, though the game doesn’t fully confirm exactly what happened to her there. Then she spends months just walking around the monastery in someone else’s face, acting like a student while helping the Agarthans from the inside. After a fight with experimental Demonic Beasts, she pretends to be Monica again, waits until Jeralt (the protagonists father)s guard is down, and stabs him. Byleth rewinds time to stop it, but Thales blocks them and Kronya still kills him anyway. And honestly, she’s also just very enthusiastically awful. She enjoys being cruel, talks down to everyone as vermin, and then gets sacrificed by Solon because even her own evil organisation sees her as disposable. She’s a murderer and an infiltrator, but also kind of pathetic in the end, because she spends all that time acting untouchable and then gets used as ritual fuel by her boss." Propaganda: 1. "She has barely any time in the game and still manages to permanently ruin Byleth’s life. She isn’t a deep political operator like Edelgard or a huge lore bomb like Rhea. She’s just this nasty little assassin who steals Monica’s identity, hangs around the academy being suspiciously chipper, and then kills one of the few people Byleth actually has. I do think there’s something interesting about how disposable she is, though. She’s smug, cruel, and absolutely enjoying herself until the second Solon turns on her, and then suddenly she’s just another Agarthan tool being thrown away. It doesn’t make her innocent, but it does make her feel less like “random evil girl” and more like someone who bought into her own importance way more than her side ever did. Also, sometimes a villain only needs one really memorable crime and a horrible laugh to earn a spot in my heart." 2. "kronya is awful but i do think people underrate how effective she is for the amount of screentime she gets" 3. "she really committed to the worst exchange student arc in history. showed up wearing another girl’s face, acted weird for three months, stabbed dad, ran away, and then got sacrificed by her own coworker before she could even enjoy being the main problem. she’s not my poor little meow meow exactly. she is more like my horrible little raccoon in the walls. she has no chill, no long-term plan that we personally see, and no survival instincts once solon starts monologuing. but she’s memorable. everyone remembers the jeralt scene. everyone remembers wanting to chase her down immediately afterward. sometimes that is enough"
vs. Lee Edwards (Haunted House Flippers)
Problematic because: "They're evil and dodgy as hell" Propaganda: "They are a delight and have a sharp, sarcastic sense of humor and wore orange socks with bats on them one time"
Who should advance?
Kronya

The Journal of Lee Edwards (Entry 5)
Last night went as well as I could have hoped. Had a few drinks, found a girl, charmed her back to my bed, and spent the night actively not thinking about Charlotte.
I didn’t catch her name. She was a pretty enough girl, though - a fairy, with purple wings that sparkled turquoise in the light. Brown hair, brown eyes, very cheerful (as I would expect a fairy to be) and an all-around good night. She was gone when I woke up, which is a relief - I wasn’t sure I could deal with kicking her out in the morning.
Also worthy of noting: The bartender’s a werewolf, like me. Could smell it on him immediately. We introduced ourselves - he’s called Nathan Burrsack. He intrigued me - I hope to befriend him. Maybe he’ll have more information for me about the Empire’s movements through Ric City. Maybe he’ll also know the best, safest place to shift when the full moon comes...
Unfortunately, I then had to go to work. Being at the castle, of course, only made me revert to thinking about Charlotte as I’m supposed to be avoiding. The other servants seemed kind enough, particularly the one who was responsible for my orientation. She showed me around, told me about the tasks of a servant - the usual, everything I would have expected. It’ll take some time for me to get to know the castle, but I hope to soon know every nook and cranny.
That is, after all, one of my tasks. They are especially hoping that I’ll find secret passageways or escape routes. Given that the place was initially built to protect the borders of the Empire, it makes sense for there to be secret escape routes to get the Queen and her father out quickly if the need arises. I’m supposed to look for those escape routes so that the rebellion can make use of that information - whatever that means.
I’m torn, though. I know it’s necessary, I know it’s my job to find this information and infiltrate the castle...but at the same time, my feelings for the Queen have me feeling opposed to it. I couldn’t bear to let anything happen to her, yet I know she was placed here as an obstacle against the Empress of Tomorrow, and if the rebellion is to take over the Empire, Charlotte will likely have to die...I can hardly bear the thought.
Perhaps I’m in too deep. Maybe I’m not the right person for this job. My feelings for the Queen may cloud my judgement, may lead me to compromise the mission...I’d hate to be the reason that the rebellion fails. At this point, I have half a mind to write Stevens myself and let him know what’s happened. Would the rebellion be able to trust me again, though? I still want to take down the Emperor, I just don’t think I can handle this job against Queen Charlotte...
I’m going to need some time to think this over. I’m writing this to you on my lunch break, which I decided to take back in the comfort of my home for the sole purpose of writing this journal entry. There must be another way to help the rebellion without working against Charlotte like this, I simply must figure it out...
