Winter Sonata

Well, finished. What can I say? I was not able to connect to the characters. Don’t get me wrong. It was a good series. I just don’t have the patience with them. 

Yoo Jin was exasperating! Her indecisiveness, her attitude and silence had Sang Hyuk and Joon Sang wrapped in her web. She didn’t mean to but she was mean to both of them and to Chae Rin too. I mean, it was clear from day one that she only cared for Sang Hyuk as a friend; why let him think he had a chance with her? She never truly looked happy with him, even before Lee Min Hyung’s appearance in their lives. 

Sang Hyuk was awful! Possessive and obsessed on having someone he knew never loved him the same way. He lied, he judged, he manipulated Yoo Jin, Joon Sang and everyone in between. 

Chae Rin thought she was all that and was jealous of Yoo Jin for getting the attention from the guy she liked. She was just as bad as Sang Hyuk with her little intrigues that instead of separating Yoo Jin and Min Hyung, actually brought them together, and cut her out of the picture.

Jin Sook was a gossip. That girl didn’t know how to keep a secret and was judgy too. 

The parents were something else as well. Sang Hyuk’s mother was just as bad as the son. She never wanted Yoo Jin but when she saw her son sick, she ran and asked her to come back. Así cualquiera - is what I say! 

The only characters I actually liked were Joon Sang / Min Hyung (until he decided to play the same game as his half brother and decided not to tell Yoo Jin about what he had learned). But even that, I can forgive since he had been lied to and what they thought as true wasn’t so. I also liked his side-kick at work, Mr. Kim. I also liked Yoo Jin’s side-kick.

It is a sad story and I was happy it ended with a happy note for Yoo Jin and Sang Hyung, but again, I just wasn’t able to connect with most of the characters.
