Lee is a pretty good listener so when he’s sincere he’s great at it. But sometimes his desire for a laugh interferes. See: Anything involving his confetti cannon.
Partner-What does your muse look for in a partner?
Do they have a sense of humor? Do they call him out when he’s out of line? Are they loyal? And are they passionate about something?
Lee, in general, is drawn to that kind of person romantic or otherwise. See Fred and George, who were ambitious and hilarious and Angelina Johnson, who was Quidditch Captain and was brave enough to put her name in the Goblet of fire.
True Love-
He definitely believes in true love. Lee is a romantic.
1) Once he figures out both of them are lefties, he labels some gifts as specially made for lefties. The catch? They’re things like a set of bath towels that don’t require modification.
2) Lee likes flying. She doesn’t, but if he spots a nice view from a roof that’s quiet he may or may not send her a patronus message (because who has time to fly home and bother their owl when he’s excite) raving about it and saying she needs to come and see it. And he tries really hard to give them at least 5 minutes of quiet. He tries really, really, really hard.
3) Lee is normally very expressive, but with more difficult subjects he’ll usually gauge what he reveals by how much someone reveals to him. I think Lavender may have been the initial mutual point of contact. If she is more reserved, then unfortunately getting into his darker fears probably happened after he had a bit too much to drink after a party when most people have left. (This is also why Lee would later cut back on the drinking part, but he can’t entirely let go of the party part. He would change what KIND of party they would be down the line.)
4) He’s very impressed by a lot of what Theo can do. Multiple languages? Magical+archaeology? Lee loves it when people talk about what they love even if he can only understand part of it. But to him, that’s all the more reason to ask questions.
Warnings: Mentions of torture, suicide attempt, self-harm
In Wizard Renegades verse (Archive verse/Upon Request)
During Potterwatch, he had to dodge them if Snatchers or Death Eaters caught his trail. He was hit by Cruciatus a couple of times. He didn’t experience the Imperius curse until the Battle of Hogwarts.
This was a very AU post-war group RPG. After the end of the war, Salazar Slytherin resurrected Bellatrix Lestrange as one does when disappointed with your descendant’s efforts at creating new world orders. Dramione was part of the storyline. Bellatrix combined Imperius with other memory modifying spells to control Lee for months. He was used for his connections to members of the Order, the Prophet, Wireless WIzarding Network through his cousin Artemis, and his ability to go places former Death Eaters could not. See other reasons here.
I was playing Bellatrix Lestrange for the RPG on a separate blog. So, if I was going to play her I didn’t want to shy away from how awful she was. And with proper plotting, she did wreak havoc on other characters within the RPG’s lives. But since I played her and Lee, he got the worst of it: Physical torture, healed afterwards, sent on “errands” to deliver messages to people she or Death Eaters couldn’t reach. She never managed to make him physically hurt other people, but combine Bellatrix’s cruelty and Lee’s creativity and you don’t need that to intimidate people. Here is a partial list of drabbles/fic regarding what was happening with Bellatrix specifically can be found here. Or at the tag “lee’s lost year.”
I never finished that storyline, but Lee was freed. And forced into hiding. And we were right in the middle of his understandably up and down road to recovery.
Consequences/Side-effects:
-He never liked being alone. Now, it’s worse.
-We were awful and in this verse Lee’s Auror girlfriend Jennie (who was played by another person and we plotted it all out) cheated on him. So while Lee is still friendly and wants to try to continue connecting with people. He doesn’t flirt much anymore. The good news? In this universe, he’s had enough time to reconnect with Dina (an OC and I still miss the Leena ship terribly.) And he was in love again, but keep in mind Dina is someone he’s known for years.
-Before he was freed, he knew SOMETHING was wrong. He was tired all the time. He was achy. He’d feel like he was forgetting something. Add the chaos of Wizard Renegades’ other events, people dying, kidnapped, and Jennie cheating, and Lee tried to kill himself.
-He looks for all potential exits in a room even if he can apparate.
-He has disguise glasses he magicked up when he was in hiding that change his appearance and he used to wear them even when he didn’t have the illusion on.
-Psychotic depression. He saw a delusion he called Not!Bellatrix on and off for a while.
-He drinks dreamless sleep potion. Otherwise, he’d be up all night distracting himself with movies, a project or any other thing.
-He’s not going into any leaking piped, dark, damp, basements without the light on.
- Don’t blindfold him, handcuff him, surprise him in a dark room because he will curse you, hex you, and if he doesn’t have his wand he will freak out. Don’t do it.
-Bellatrix broke his hand once and a combo of her +run-ins with other dangerous folk means she had to heal other broken bones. My Bellatrix’s specialty is not healing. When it’s cold, Lee is in pain. Warming charms are his friend.
-When he’s emotional, his magic flared up. He’s had to buy new TV sets, he’s accidentally set a chair on fire, has made it snow in his flat, and lights flicker in a grocery store. He has since worked on controlling it and he can do some wandless magic: Lighting candles, moving dinner tables with his mind, turning on light switches.
I had Lee in this verse the longest so it has bled into my other interpretations even if it’s no longer my main.
Multiverse Post War:
All other post war verses:
There are many reasons Potterwatch was sporadic. They were on the run, they needed secure locations before broadcasting, and they were betrayed a couple of times. This is where I diverge from my old Wizard Renegades verse in Lee’s story. One of those times, Lee was captured for a week.In most verses, he doesn’t talk about it much and he doesn’t remember all of it.
He does remember they started talking about making him create false broadcasts of Potterwatch to demoralize the resistance efforts. At this point, Lee doesn’t know how long it’s been. But he attempts slashing his own wrists. (Lee tells Verity about it here, but doesn’t describe it in depth.)And in punishment for his attempt, they don’t heal that as tidy as the other things they did to him, full-body-bind cursed him so he wouldn’t try again, and tried to convince him he could move if he wanted and that it was all in his head.
Under Imperius, Lee did record a fake Potterwatch show. Lee suspects they would’ve kept him alive to do more. The Order was able to save him and destroy the recording before it could be broadcast. But his Uncle Sean dies as part of the rescue party.
And Lee would’ve dodged and possibly be hit with Imperius and Cruciatus during the Battle of Hogwarts.
Side-effects:
-Lee still dislikes being alone.
- He looks for all potential exits in a room even if he can apparate.
-He’s not going into any leaking piped, dark, damp, basements without the light on.
-Here, his disguise glasses were created by him for being on the run for Potterwatch. He keeps them close, but he doesn’t wear them.
- Aversion to being surprised in the dark, blind-folded or restrained by rope, handcuffs, et cetera.
-When he’s emotional, his magic flared up. But if it’s two-plus years after the Battle of Hogwarts, he mostly has it under control. Part of his psychic/whatever they call it in Harry Potter therapy is learning more wandless magic.
-He drinks dreamless sleep potion.
-Unless he’s drinking at a party, because those can’t mix for him.
-This is also one of the many reasons Lee eventually stops partying that hard. And if he’s becoming a more public figure, he wants to set a better example.
-He hides the wrist scars with a charm, but it’s only a visual one. It wears off by the next morning because Lee doesn’t want to lie to himself, but he’d rather not have to answer questions about them.
-He dates, but he’s not a one-night stand kind of person. He’s a romantic at heart, but he has to know a person.Or someone he does know well has to because while he’ll try to get along within reason with anyone civil and not overtly rude... He doesn’t trust new people as easily anymore.
v; I’m Always Okay Now - Lee goes all vigilante murder-y on un-caught former Death Eaters. In a nutshell, when Lee was captured for a week part of what they did to them involved creating false memories of a horrific year that never happened in which he was forced to do awful things. In this verse, the false year is all the awful things I had part of Wizard Renegades canon events.
Lee’s Not!Bellatrix delusions here are because those who psychically tortured him had the idea of using her notoriety, voice, and image. Lee hasn’t personally met Bellatrix in this verse.
For every “⏳” I receive, my muse will openly talk about a bit of their backstory.
“Me? Only child. Making friends was a necessity. Parents worked. Went to muggle school until I was 10. Mum wanted at least that. She knew it would be different once I was somewhere all magic. It’s easy to forget and get all wrapped up in the wonders of what you can do. Making friends was a joy until it wasn’t. The more people you know. The more names you have to worry about reading in the paper. Or not reading. My world was big and noisy and full of people. Until it wasn’t. Until fear meant people were slower to make friends because they didn’t know who to trust. Potterwatch made everything realer. I knew names on those lists. Sometimes it was just me in a tent because everyone else was off doing something else for the Order.Me and those names. Very small. Very real. I still like making friends. Absolutely. But there’s a part of me that wonders maybe I shouldn’t. The war’s over, but…We all die someday. Hopefully a very long time from now, but…I’ve already outlived people. And I worry about George sometimes. About Ginny. I don’t even know what Carrows–Sorry. What was the question? Friends. I try to think about it as…Hey. Even if I’m only their friend today. That’s one more good moment. For me. For them. That counts for something. But uh, I want them to be real moments.Maybe I never see them again. That’s okay. But for real friendships. There’s this idea out there about me… I’m not trying to wrack up some kind of tally sheet or network.I’m not gonna flatter someone just because I think they can get me into a good party. People think that’s me just because…I can be over-enthusiastic and loud and yes, enjoy having the spotlight. But no, the people I’m with is more important than what we’re doing or how fancy a party is. Friendship is hard. It takes effort. And I’m a very…all in kind of person. Life’s too short to spend my energy on people I don’t actually like.“
Send 💕 and my muse will say whether or not they’d date yours and why!
“There’s an unconsidered question. It would be a bit Romeo and Juliet, wouldn’t it? My mum’s muggleborn. Her family’s pureblood. I’ve gotten to know her better through Lavender. I honestly haven’t thought about asking her out. It might be because much of our interactions have been centered around mutual friends. And if we ever did, I wouldn’t force her into spotlight situations, but given how much I AM in that? I work for the Prophet. I know the Weasleys. I know Harry, Ron, Hermione. Neville. Oliver Wood of Puddlemere. I already dodge questions because I want to respect their privacy. I chose Potterwatch all that time ago. I also choose to be more public about my own opinions. So anyone who dates me has to be okay with that.”
For each “⭐️” I get, I’ll write a headcanon about our muses.
Lee jokes that if he ever gets out of line he has his choice of people he can turn himself into: Rosetta @the-young-rosebud , Harry, Ron, Hayley( @rebelrebcl ).
What he doesn’t say except to her, is out of all of them he’d choose Rosetta because he’d feel guilty about letting Harry and Ron who saved EVERYTHING down. And with Hayley, he’s worried she’d kick his arse first. And with all three of them, he’d be letting his house down. Rosetta probably could kick his arse, too, but at least letting a former Slytherin take him in would in a tiny way make up the awful stuff he used to say. The only win in what would be a lose situation for him.
