THE MARCH OF THE WOMEN performance commissioned by Grace Exhibition Space for its “21st Suffragettes: International Performance Art by Women” Festival - May 2016
Drawing from the symbolic unison of the Suffragettes Women's march for freedom, Legacy Fatale premiered its Army of Women. In response to the recent resurgence of anti-feminist backlashes around the world most notoriously the neo-masculine movement of rape culture, Legacy Fatale has invited both women and men to follow their march, chanting the original Anthem of the 1911′s Suffragettes movement through the streets of Bushwick in a procession to Grace Exhibition space. This counter protest is tied to the political context of leadership in America. Exploring the question: Do we still need to keep marching? The following performance ‘The Lasso of Truth’ at Grace Exhibition Space leads to a final tableaux featuring a sound piece inviting the audience to take part in human peace transcending gender and races.
