What Pacifica wanted more than anything in the world was to feel acceptance. In the Falls, she was constantly wearing a mask. In the Falls all she heard was whispers about herself, about how she was a slut, that she was easy. And her parents permitted this, because the alternative was the truth; that their daughter just happened to be gay. And they couldn't have that.
Pacifica had boyfriend after boyfriend, each day hearing her parents remind her of the importance of image- that no one was to know that she was something other than what Preston and Priscilla wanted.
They told her it was wrong over and over but she just wanted to be accepted. To have a chance at being around people that knew and didn't care that she loved women.
So she devised a plan. During one of her parents 'business' trips, she snuck out and hopped onto a plane to where a huge pride event was being held. Far away from the whispers and rumors in Oregan to celebration in California.
Even though she was certain that she was far away enough from anyone that could recognize her as the Northwest daughter, Pacifica still donned her usual disguise of sunglasses, scarf and a jacket. The difference being that the scarf covering her head held the colors of the lesbian flag.
The air was different here, it felt odd to be able to be open and have no one look at her and whisper. It felt freeing to be herself. Pacifica found herself smiling, found herself cheering- a woman shoved a flag into her hands and she laughed joyously when she was called cute and winked at. Pacifica had no interest in the female but lord did it still make her blush when it was a woman flirting instead of the scummy men in the falls.
"PACIFICA!?"
All at once her good mood evaporated like water during hot sunny days. Pacifica's stomach dropped and twisted- how the hell had she been recognized!? She took steps to prevent this! Pacifica's hand went to her scarf to pull it further over her head- she felt foolish for coming. Pacifica scurried away from her assigned group in the pride march. It wasn't worth being caught, being found out. As she moved away her eyes nervously darted around to try and see if there were any familiar faces until-
"Oof! Get off me-" She ran into someone and all she could see was a mess of brown hair. Pacifica jerked away, spitting out glitter of all things. She readjusted her disguise until-
"Oh my god." Pacifica couldn't tell if the person finding her being Mabel made this whole thing better or worse. "Mabel I- I like, thought you lived in a different area of Cali." She looked around, "You- you can't tell anyone I'm here. No one knows- no one was supposed to know."
