*Mrrrr*
*Warble!*
Several sea bunnies gathered around your tired ankles, you collapsed back onto a nearby sofa. The little creatures nudged against the chair, pawing and sniffing at your hand hung over the side. Their tiny mandibles investigating your fingers affectionately.
For some reason after you started sneaking food down to Sebastian, Sea bunnies began flocking you. You figured it was partially because you on one occasion fed a small colony a few runs ago, now all of them across the site come to you for snacks. They must have smelled the aluminum wrapped cafeteria pizzas in your bag. You wouldn’t cave this time though, you figured maybe Sebastian would let you sleep on his tail for a bit if you gave him what you had.
You finally reached for your belt and pulled the sprint syringe off, reaching down and placing it on the backs of one of the bunnies, it warbled and went on its merry way to the warren entrance. The rest of the herd now realizing you wouldn’t give up your food, began to disperse. You watched as the bunny exited the tunnel with a medkit and.. a rose on top?
The sight caught your attention enough to sit up with a groan, you knelt next to the items. The rose was fake, taped onto the medkit. You muttered “what in the world..?” And promptly heard familiar snickers from behind the entrance. You turned and leaned down a bit to look inside. “Sebastian?”
“Who else is giving you flowers?” He sarcastically remarked, his three eyes visible in the dark, his cheek smushed against the floor to look at you. “I would hope just you,” you replied with a chuckle, “why are you even in there?”
“Avoiding the shop, i put an old halloween bucket with some batteries and a note to ‘take one’.” He chuckled, continuing “i like to sit in here and dish out codebreachers for better crap.”
You chuckled, “can i come in?” You sat up a bit to look around for a possible entry.
“Nah, i should be heading back. It’s just up ahead, i’ll meet you and that pizza you’re hiding there.” He winked and sat up. You followed the movement, back and neck aching from the strain. “See you there,” you said before walking off.
You started for the door, then looked down to see a bunny rubbing against your boots. Making that strange alien purr. “Awwwwwee,” you vocalize, leaning down to pick the small creature. “You’re just begging to come to the surface with me.” You switch it into your arm as you continue walking. It snuggled into you with another chitter.
Finally you reached Sebastians shop, he was just getting into place. The vent flicked off the wall, “come iiinnn~” he called out promptly before you crawled into the vent, releasing the bunny so it may walk ahead of you.
“Ah, Y/N you’ve turned into a bunny,” he nearly deadpanned, you could hear him eye rolling. You pushed out of the vent, “nope, this little guy wants to join me.” His reaction, visible now, was of amused chastising rather than annoyance. “And you think urbanshade will let you keep them?”
The bunny crawled into your lap as you sat down by the wall, “Nope, thats why you’ll hold onto them while im on the surface!” You replied, petting its ears back. “Yeah, no I don’t think so. It’s just after the food in your bag and the moment it realizes you wont give it any, then it’ll just go back. Speaking of which..” he leaned down with an expecting look.
“Come on,” you frowned up at him. “Won’t you just try?”
“No- *sigh* don’t look at me like that, it does nothing but make you look-“ he groaned. “Just give me the pizza, i’ll see what i can do.” He held out his hand with grabby motions.
You smiled, reaching into the waterproof bag and pulling the warm foil bundle from your files. He took it and immediately went to unwrapping the greasy slices, putting a whole piece in his mouth while balling up the trash and opening the second one.
While your new little buddy settled in your lap, you yawned. The warmth of his shop and the comfort of safety he provided was enough to relax you out of your adrenaline rush. “Can i nap here?”
He looks down at you as he throws the second wrapper away, “Here? On the floor? No,” he responded. Before you could move or respond he lowered towards you and picked you and the bunny up in his arms. He promptly placed you on the raised area by where he stood. “There, out of the way and no one will annoy you,” he proclaimed proudly.
As sweet as the notion was, he likely put you behind the railing so you wouldn’t tempt him into taking a nap with you (again). Still, you spoke, “you don’t want to rest with me?”
“Can’t, besides, you have someone else to snuggle with now.” He raised himself over the railing, leaning forward to kiss your forehead and briefly pet the bunnies head. “Just get some rest before you know who makes me tell you to leave,” he smiles and moves back onto the ground. You could see his tail wagging behind him briefly stop before picking up again.
You caved, yawning again, “alright. Guess I can’t have my cake and eat it too,” you replied. Getting comfortable in the corner. “Sleep tight, Y/N..” he purred, slithering out of sight likely to stock up. You closed your eyes, tighten your arms around your new pet and drift to sleep.
When you awaken, the shop is dark, you can’t see Sebastian. Slowly, you arise, shushing the bunny as it’s jostled. You move to the railing to see him curled up with his head on the desk. After a moment of admiring how calm he looked, you looked towards the entrance to catch a glimmer of fading green. Looks like you had to go.
You began to lower yourself and the sea bunny onto the empty space of the desk, before moving further onto the floor. You turned to Sebastian, leaning forward, wiping hair from his face and kissing his cheek, he grumbled.
With learned instincts you could hear the fabric of his clothes moving as he reached to pull you in, you moved back. Instead, when he continued to half heartedly reach around, you handed him the bunny. Which he took, making you snicker. You then continued for the vent, keeping your eyes on him as cuddles into the small animal.
