“Here.” Howard slid the box across the table to Steve. It was unwrapped, and plain looking, but then again the new Captain America suit inside wasn’t really meant to be a present so much as it was a necessity -- still, it WAS Christmas Eve, so he supposed some sort of sentiment was still there. He had considered getting Steve an actual present in all honesty, but had become so preoccupied with work in recent weeks that nearly all Christmas shopping had slipped his mind. Perhaps that was for the best; no matter how much he admired Steve, he wasn’t sure what he’d get him as a gift anyway. “I know it’s not much of a present really, but Merry Christmas Cap.”

They hadn’t spoken much in Germany or on the quinjet, but not that it was momentarily quiet, Tony couldn’t help but stare a little. “Hard to believe it’s really you. Are you… Okay?” He meant that in a lot of ways, and he wasn’t sure how to specify, but as angry as he was with the figure of Captain America, he didn’t deserve being thrust into the world with only SHIELD asking about his wellbeing. And he wanted to keep him where he could figure him out.

She doesn’t question Coulson, she hasn’t before since the beginning (not that she trusted him), but she didn’t question his determination, and she doesn’t now, though she has to wonder just a little bit if part of this is to have an excuse to talk to his idol a little bit more often. Another part of her is wondering if he’s trying to give Clint a break, like maybe they had talked about this, but those thoughts are brushed aside as she enters the quinjet.

They’re not leaving for another hour, but she has an equipment check to do, that and she doesn’t want the mandatory ‘pep talk’ Clint has for her every time she’s paired with someone new. Rogers isn’t one to get on her nerves as fast as the other idiots at S.H.I.E.L.D. and for that she’s grateful, it doesn’t mean she’s happy to have to get used to working around a whole new person.

After ensuring everything is in its place, she’s satisfied enough to let herself sit, making herself comfortable in one of the seats along the side in preparation for the launch.
