Ossification: The natural process of bone formation

In the Finnish language Skeleton is Luuranko. Luuranko is made up of two words, Luu, meaning Bone, and Ranko, which is derived from Ranka, meaning: 1. pole (delimbed but not debarked stem of a thin tree that is not cut to a specified length) 2. stalk (supporting member of a plant part, such as a leaf or inflorescence) 3. spine (short for selkäranka)

So if you would translate Luuranko back to English considering this it could become something like Bonestalk or Bonepole
