Last Night by the Grave

I got the not so original idea that a skeleton hand should stick out of a grave and hold something. After pondering for a while I came up with this.

I created the scene outside on a piece of concrete. I've used a blue led light and a facemister to get the right atmosphere. I've used a Dutch tilt to create a feeling of instability. I now think I should have tilted the camera the other way to make it seem like the celebrator is leaning into the grave.

An inspiration for the photo is the old tradition to drink and even dance at funerals, called Gravöl, directly translated as Grave beer. The guy here took this tradition a bit further.

Respite

As a kid, 11-14 years of age, I was insanely interested in the American Civil War. It was the game North and South that got me into it. I saw the game being played by a friend of my uncle and after that this was all I could think about. I tried to get my hands on the game myself, for Nintendo, but it was impossible. So I started to make my own games on paper. I would draw maps and make up rules to try and simulate the strategic situation in the real game. I started to read all I could find about the war, but this was not much, mostly some general information in a encyclopedia that I would read over and over again.

The serious fool

I got the idea to from a Schleich toy of a fool holding the head. It was a bit macabre, but here as a Lego version the concept becomes a bit more fun than macabre I think. I like the idea of a medieval fool that's perhaps not that good at his job, or perhaps he is just ahead of his time and nobody understands his brilliance

When Lego made this piece in white my first thought was that this is a baby ghost. I am sure many others thought the same. It would be fun to see what others have done with it.

Also I really hope LEGO will make a printed version, similar to what I did in Photoshop here. Preferably they would make two or three different facial expressions.

The monthly theme on Brickcentral is "Summer Days"

I did not come up with the idea for this picture myself. It is from the front of a Swedish comic book called 91:an. When I saw it I just felt I wanted to recreate the scene with LEGO.

Skógar-maðr

Just look how happy Kjell and Brynhild are! It's because of their new gear that they got from Minifig Realms.

Kjell is sporting a warm Fur Pelt Collar combined with a Cape-Compatible Leather Sheat for his sword. That way he can always have his longsword with him on his back while still being able to fire his crossbow.

Brynhild carries a fashionable olive green Ranger Cape that matches her clothing perfectly. This way she can blend in perfectly with the bushes when in hiding AND while attending a gille (great fest)

Wheels on Meals

Brickcentral's Theme this month is Whacky Racers. I was inspired by the Mitsubishi Van from Jackie Chan's movie Wheels on Meals from 1984 when I built this yellow racer. I realize this is probably a very narrow reference that few know about. But I just like old martial arts movies, especially the ones by Jackie Chan. And so this was the first thing that came to mind for me.
