The industry doesn’t care about artists with fewer than 20 million monthly listeners — actually, not even about those below 50 million. As for Louis, his fans are lazy when it comes to streaming and don’t really listen to his music, because the majority of them are Larries who much prefer Harry’s music. He is never going to get back to even 5 million monthly listeners.

Unfortunate, but true. So what’s the point?

See love, I don't know who your idol is but my idol says that he doesn't want me to feel bad about not being able to afford to buy his merch, So I trust him! I love him and lemonade has been THE song for me since it got released! The numbers do help him and if you think he's sitting there being sad that some of his fans can't afford to buy his merch then you're wrong!

If you really want to support Louis you need to buy the single. Just streaming it is not enough because he earns barely anything from that. BUY IT and make it count!

Actually that's not true! Louis himself has said that all he really wants from his fans is for them to listen to his songs and support him. If you cannot afford to buy his merch, it's fine.
