Bissmillah'Hir'Rahman'Hir'Rahim❗
Isläm: All Glory Is;Only For and To Allāh Jallah Jullaluh❗❗
We do not worship feelings. We do not worship anything besides Allah.
To be conscious and present in their prayer is a positive intention.
But it is not a condition.
Allah has instructed us to pray.
Khushu is not our goal.
Allah is our goal.
Khushu is a description of the one who prays for the sake of Allah. One's first objective should be to perform the prayers in their time in accordance with the conditions He has established.
Consistent completion of this will change you.
If one feels spiritual, pray, as you have been instructed to.
If one feels uncomfortable, pray, as you have been instructed to. When one feels sleepy, pray, as you have been instructed to.
The efficacy of the prayer is not as a means of changing the way one feels. It is to articulate your commitment to Allah through the rain and shine.
Do not attach oneself to the feelings one gains from the prayer.
Serenity is a gift from Allah.
But the nafs is such that it will begin to worship that feeling, and be less committed when the feeling is not forthcoming.
I have seen this many times - "I stopped praying because I didn't get anything out of it."
You give the prayer to Allah, not vice versa.
Prayer is sacrifice in the truest sense of the word - to make life sacred, to give thanks to Allah - expressing gratitude for the gift of life.
Avoid making the prayer transactional - "I pray so I can feel better."
I pray because prayer is the natural state of mankind.
What else would I do?
The prayer is not for me. It is His.
And He knows best.
