Conservationists from Bristol Zoo Gardens have flown out to Costa Rica to spearhead vital research into a tiny endangered frog.They will be carrying out a survey into the numbers of lemur leaf frogs which are bright green and small enough to sit on a fingertip.

We got in a new 4.2 group of Lemur Leaf Frogs (Agalychnis lemur) at work today. They may not be the most flashy species, but I still like them quite a lot.

They’re also critically endangered, largely due to a combination of habitat loss and the Chytrid fungus. Fortunately they breed readily in captivity, so there should be a large captive population to draw from if reintroduction becomes necessary.
