"Thane. How have you been, friend?"
He blinked both sets of eyelids. He was surprised to see Shepard up so late. Perhaps, that was an untruth. It was more so that he rarely ran into anyone during his late night trips to the mess. The past few days, outside of any missions he'd been taken on, he'd withdrawn more than normal. Hidden away in his quarters. Meditating.
He had to bite inside of his cheek to keep his neutral expression. It was obvious Shepard was making a point. He'd noticed Thane's absence.
With a hot cup of tea in hand, his gaze fell to the human who had done so much for him. Given him purpose, saved his son from walking a dark path, and been there for him time and again. "Grab something to drink and join me, if you will. I shall return to my quarters." He inclined his head and returned to life support.
He watched the ebb and flow of the drive core's light and took small sips of his tea, while he waited for the man to join him.
