The Leno weave looks. So good. It’s hard to see in this photo but that middle section isn’t chunky navy yarn, it’s gaps in the fabric made by hand manipulating the warp threads.
Admittedly this isn’t the best yarn for it but I’m only going to do a pick of Leno every few inches so I don’t think it’ll wreck my warp.
I tried a 2 x 2 Leno first and wasn’t a fan. The gaps were too big for what I was going for. The 1 x 1 Leno looks a lot better but it’s definitely more work.
I knew going in the Leno would mess with my selvedges, so I’m going to have to keep a close eye on that. I might change it next time and leave out the two end threads as a sort of pseudo floating selvedge and see if that helps.
