bitter nostalgia chapter six has been posted!

thinking so much about the fact that leo wants desperately to be the stoic, mysterious princely archetype that xander exudes so perfectly and succeeds in a way that he doesn't even realize. he doesn't realize that he's mysterious because nobody actually knows all that much about him despite the often deep conversations people have with him. he doesn't realize that he actually is fairly stoic, as the definition of stoicism is not necessarily showing no emotion but rather enduring severe hardship without complaining or showing how much he's struggling. he thinks he doesn't measure up to xander because he's not as intimidating, because people are comfortable enough to speak to him about their issues and come to him for advice–but in a way, that makes him more intimidating, because now he knows all of this information about them that he can use against them without him having given up anything. his proficiency and talent with people could be absolutely fucking terrifying if he realized and acknowledged it, and if he truly wanted to be the evil prince so many people chalked him up to be, the evil prince he convinced himself he wanted to be, good god could he be that. but he's just so good at heart without even necessarily realizing it. he's so blinded by his admiration of xander that he fails to see all of the things which he succeeds in, and it makes me so sad.

Corrin: A Mii Swordfighter. A Mii that practices Swordplay…

Leo: Yes. That is what a Mii Swordfighter does.

Corrin: No I mean, that reminds me of something! See Master Hand decided that he was gonna pay for every fighter to spend a week at Wuhu Island, a Mii island resort, and you can bring up to 10 people with you! One of the activities is Swordplay! A dual, slicing contest, or defeating a horde called showdown.

Camilla: Interesting!

Corrin: And, you know, I wanna bring you guys! Take a look at the pamphlet! Tell me what you guys wanna do!

Xander: Many of these are competitions. I will join you all in these should you choose a competition. I will be doing all the Swordplay should someone wish to join me.

Camilla: The Dogfighting looks fun. I might give that a try.

Elise: I wanna try Frisbee Dog! Those dogs in the picture are so cute!

Corrin: I was thinking of Bowling.

Camilla: Leo? What's wrong?

Leo: Nothing.

Corrin: I think I know. You're worried Xander will beat you. You have quite the inferiority complex, you know.

Leo: W-What!? That's ridiculous!

Corrin: Well, little brother! I have good news. There are some sports Xander can't participate in!

Xander: What!?

Corrin: People can't participate in Power Cruising, Canoeing, or Wakeboarding unless they know how to swim!

Leo: Interesting…

Xander: T-Thats ridiculous! Why would I need to know how to swim!?

Elise: Probably in case you fall off.

Camilla: Oh, look at this. There is a way for someone who can't swim to do those. They must take a short lesson before hand with a Mii Swim Instructor. And be in a class with 5 and 6 year olds!

(laughter)

Xander: You can't be serious!

Leo: Leader of Nohr, Eldest of us… floundering in the kiddy pool with his floaty alongside children who are undoubtedly better swimmers. A sight to behold.

Elise: Seems like a win-win for Leo and a lose-lose for Xander!

Corrin: Still, I have many more plans for more relaxing activities. I even plan to swim around in dragon form!

Camilla: It sounds like a lovely time. I look forward to it.
