Congratulations on the milestone! Could I request Leo Fitz with the tv trope “Comforting Comforter” please? Thanks so much! 😘
gif // a/n: i hope you like it! akhdfkjd i was watching an AOS cast interview compilation last night and Ian in every single interview was just acting exactly how Fitz would just standing there like 🧍♂️ also I had never heard of this trope before and when I searched it I was like “oh wait this is one of my FAVS”
You had fallen asleep in the lab again, head down on your desk while waiting on results, now completely drifted off, even as the processor beeped to let you know it had finished. You slept through it, worn out from weeks of being in the field, of coming back to the base only to head out again, the constant force of “I just need to make it through this week” every single week.
Fitz lifted his head from his work and squinted across the dark lab when he heard the beeping, finally getting up to switch it off. He came across you, then, and finally realized why you had been so quiet for the last half-hour. It was past midnight, even Jemma had gone to get some sleep, and he knew if he woke you now, you’d force yourself to pull the all-nighter.
He thought for a moment, hands on his hips, wondering if he should wake you, before shaking his head and walking quietly over to one of the supply cabinets, pulling out one of the grey blankets. As carefully as possible, Fitz laid it over your shoulders, tucking the oversized blanket around your arms to keep you warm. You shifted a little in your sleep and he paused, but you only buried your head deeper into the cradle of your arms and he exhaled, laying the rest of the blanket over your legs.
“You’ve got to let yourself rest,” Fitz murmured to you as he sent your results to his computer so that he could finish your analysis with his. “You’ll burn yourself out, you know.” He gave you a half-smile, even though you wouldn’t see it, before returning to his own workstation. “Don’t worry though, I’ll get this done so you won’t have to worry in the morning, all right?” he said, mostly to himself. “You just... rest.”
