With the Second World War over, and his comic book series coming to a close (issue #67 would be the last), Captain Midnight embarked on more and more science fiction stories.

His battle with Xog, Ruler of Saturn, was the lead feature in issues #64 (June, 1948), #65 (July, 1948) and #66 (August, 1948). The story saw the good Captain first encounter Xog on Saturn, then Xog follow him to Earth in an attempt to conquer it, and finally Captain Midnight returning to Saturn to end Xog's menace once and for all.
