A/N: I haven't written much in forever and today I opened Google Docs to maybe try and write and I found this untitled and just sitting there. I really don't remember writing this but I guess I did so here it is! Enjoy :)
You were on a planet that had just had a major natural disaster hit their capital city. There were many casualties and you had come in to offer assistance and to bring them much needed supplies. You were at a medical facility helping to triage people coming in with various injuries.
You had been tasked with assessments before directing the injuries to the treatment they needed. You were also helping with some of the more minor injuries if there was a lull in people coming in. While you knew your work was less exhausting than that of some of the other doctors and nurses who were doing back to back surgeries or other more intense work, you were still exhausted. You were also sure you had skipped a few breaks and honestly weren’t sure how long you had been at this posting.
As if he had read your mind, suddenly Dr. McCoy appeared beside you. “I swear I haven’t seen you take a break all day. When was your last break?” He questioned.
“I honestly don’t remember,” You told him truthfully.
“Well then what are you doing standing here, shoo, go take a break and come back a little refreshed.”
You went to argue but he gave you a look that told you not to even try. You sighed and dramatically handed off the padd to another nurse before you stepped out of the school that had been turned into a makeshift hospital. You immediately took a deep breath and realized just how long you had been cooped up in that building. You would never admit it to Bones, but you had desperately needed the break.
You had started to go for a walk. You should have probably been more exhausted than you were but you found yourself being restless. You didn’t want to get yourself lost so you were just walking around the block because you would be able to keep the school in your vision and you knew this area was one of the least affected so you wouldn’t find yourself in rubble and impassable areas.
You had rounded the corner of the back of the building happy to be away from the chaos and be able to enjoy some quiet when you notice a man approaching. “They killed my wife! How could they let her die!” You heard him yelling. You felt bad for him, he had just gone through a tragedy and it wasn’t something that could be helped. It had seemed that he was just yelling at the world and not anyone in particular, but suddenly he was directly in your face. “How could you let them kill her!!”
“I’m so sorry for your loss sir, but I am sure they did everything that you could.” You tried to diffuse the situation. You were trying to remember if you had seen this man when you were triaging people, but you had seen hundreds of people and at a certain point, the faces began to blend together.
“No! You said she’d be okay, that it was just a simple injury and then we waited hours and now she’s dead. You killed her!!”
You were trying to process what he was saying but before you could say or do anything, he was lunging at you. You hadn’t been prepared for the attack so he managed to knock you down on the stairs behind you. You were trying to push him off you when you heard the back doors opening and someone yelling. You let out a breath of relief when the commotion scared the man off and he ran off within second of the person starting to yell at him.
“Oh my god! y/n, are you okay?!” You suddenly released the voice was that of Dr. McCoy.
“Yeah, yeah I’m fine.” You responded. You were still a little stunned from the encounter and you began to slowly pull yourself up to a better seated position.
You watched as the doctor looked you over. You rolled your eyes, “You know, I am a nurse, when I say I am fine, I mean it,”
“ Well, I would believe that you're fine, but you have a goddamn knife sticking out of your leg, so." He responded with an annoyed look.
“What are you,” You started to respond before looking down to where his eyes were and realizing that he was right, there was a knife sticking out of your thigh. “Oh.”
“Yeah.” He sighed, “So how ‘bout we get you back inside and get you taken care of.”
“I am pretty sure this is a yellow case at best, I can take care of this myself. I am sure you have much more important things to be dealing with.” You told him. However, you did allow him to help you get up from the stairs. You made sure not to put any weight onto your left leg.
“Well I think having my favorite nurse out of commission puts you higher on the priority list” He told you.
“Oh, and here I thought you didn’t have favorites.” You chuckled.
“Don’t tell Christine, she’ll be very upset and no one wants that.” He joked.
“Your secret is safe with me.” You smiled.
You still wanted to protest that you could take care of yourself, but you also had to admit, you didn’t mind being taken care of by the doctor so you allowed him to lead you to a table and to patch you up.
“What happened?” He asked gently as he began to cut the fabric of your uniform pants away from the knife blade.
“I really don’t know. It happened so fast. He was yelling about how his wife died and then next thing I knew he was in my face saying I killed his wife and then before I could even try to respond, he had jumped me.” You explained. “I was trying to remember who his wife was. He said I told him it was a minor injury. I don’t know if I diagnosed her wrong. I mean maybe I am to blame.”
“Hey,” Bones stopped what he was doing, putting his hands on your shoulders and forcing you to look at him, “You did not kill her. You have been doing your job to the upmost degree, there is a lot that can go wrong when we are trying to take care of this many people. We can’t control everything, he was just misplacing his anger. You are not to blame.”
“I mean, what if I am though?” You were trying to listen to what he was saying but all you could think about was how you couldn’t even remember who the women who died was. “I mean I can’t even remember looking the women over, what if I over extended myself and was too tired and missed something.”
“Listen, I know what you're going through right now, but honestly if you don’t remember her you might not have even been the one to look her over. And I promise, as your direct superior, I would not have let you stay here if I thought you were a danger to yourself or others. Nor would you let yourself get to that point.”
You knew he was right but it was so hard to believe it when you stopped to think about the life that was lost.
“Thanks Len,”
“Anytime. You know where to find me if you need to talk about this type of stuff.” He told you. From there he worked in mostly silence. He made sure to warn you of incoming pain and apologized when you winced anyway.
“Alright you’re all good. Now get yourself back to the ship and rest for a while.” He instructed once you were patched up.
“Wait, I thought this was about making sure I could get back to work?!” You protested.
“You have already been here well over the maximum allowed for hours, and you were just stabbed. You need to get some rest. Once you have had a good 10 hours off, you can come back and work if you’re feeling up for it.”
“But-” You tried to interject.
“No buts. Get some sleep. That’s an order.” He said, authority behind the statement.
“Fine, but I am not going to be happy about it.” You gumbled.
Pairing: Leonard/reader
Summary: The exhaustion from multiple crisis made a relaxing night very needed. Even if it meant forgetting something important.
Word Count: 1037
A/N: It's been awhile but I was in need of something soft and could use a nap myself so this all but wrote itself. Hope you enjoy.
You knew that when you had enlisted in Starfleet that rest would not be something you would be all that familiar with, however, you hadn’t expected it to feel just so never ending. You knew it was the curse of getting assigned to the flagship, an assignment you would not give up for anything, expect right now, maybe a nice long nap would have you trading in your rank without much of a second thought.
You tried very hard to keep yourself balanced, however part of that balance was making sure you spent time with your friends, but between the back to back disasters and then the mandatory fun the captain would set up to help everyone “decompress” you felt like you have had no time to just relax, unless you were asleep but even that was limited.
So when Uhura had asked you to get drinks with her after your shift, you didn’t even feel bad for turning her down, you must have looked like you needed the break because she didn’t even ask a second time. She was good at respecting boundaries, but she also liked to try and convince you to join her in shenanigans, so her not trying to entice you, even slightly, was a sign that you looked as exhausted as you felt.
You sighed happily as you slipped into lounge clothes, you couldn’t even think of the last time these sweats had made an appearance. You plopped yourself on the couch and pressed play on the first movie that came up on your padd. You heard your doorbell go off and you groaned, you hadn’t even made it 10 minutes into the movie. Maybe Nyota had changed her mind and was going to try and force you out with her.
“Come in” You shouted, too lazy to move to see exactly who it was. You barely even turned your head to look at who you had just let enter your space.
“From the look of it, I am going to assume you’ve forgotten of our planned date.” You heard a gruff voice say from your doorway, a slight chuckle in his voice.
“Oh my god!” You sat up rather quickly to look up and see Leonard with a bouquet of flowers in his hand and a rather nice looking outfit on. You had been so busy the last few weeks, you and Leonard had barely had time to even see each other in passing. You had finally synced calendars and made plans to have a nice sit down date, one that was more than a 5 minute lunch, or 15 conversation before you both passed out in one of your beds. “It completely slipped my mind, I am so so sorry Len. If you give me like 10 minutes, I can be ready.”
You stood up and walked over to him, reaching up to pull him into a kiss, “The flowers are lovely” You toyed with one of the leaves, smiling at how much thought he had put into getting them for you.
“You’re fine, you look exhausted,” He frowned slightly when he took in just how true that statement was.
“And here I was about to say how handsome you looked, and you’re saying I look terrible” You huffed.
“Now don’t put words in my mouth, I said you look tired, not terrible.” He glared at you, “How could I possibly think you look terrible when you look so adorable in my sweatshirt.”
You tried and failed to hold back the smile at his comment, “I don’t remember this being yours.”
“Probably cause you stole it forever ago.”
“Well anyway, just make yourself comfortable, and I will get changed.” You told him, “though don’t even ask, you’re not getting this hoodie back.”
“I wouldn’t dare,” He smiled, “But no need to change, we can just stay in. Looks like you just started a movie, and I would hate to make you not finish that, plus i could use a nice calm evening too”
“Are you sure? I feel terrible about ruining plans that you clearly took time to make.” You frowned.
“It really wasn’t anything crazy, we can rain check it until you have had more sleep.” He told you, sincerity in his voice.
“Thank you, Len.” You smiled, pulling him into a hug. He didn’t hesitate wrapping his arms tightly around you, staying like that for a while, just happy to be in each other's arms.
“How about, I get these beautiful flowers in a vase, you go change into something more comfy and we can just curl up on the couch, eat some shitty replicator food and watch the dumb movie I had started,”
“Sounds perfect” He planted a kiss on your forehead before passing the flowers off to you and heading in your room to find some of his clothes to change into.
You had finished putting the flowers in a vase and placing them neatly on your counter before finding some food to replicate when Len came out with a few extra pillows and blankets from your room. Upon seeing how cozy he was about to make the couch, you had no doubt you would be finding yourself asleep soon but you were just happy to have some time to spend with Len quietly.
As you set the food down on the coffee table, Leonard had gotten himself and the pillows and such situated. You then found yourself getting settled curled up against his chest. You each grabbed a bowl of food and ate in comforting silence as the movie neither of you were paying all that much attention to played in the background. Once you were done eating and the dishes were set aside, you felt Leonard lightly playing with your hair, a gentle kiss here or there placed on your hairline. It wasn’t much longer before you felt yourself slipping into a deep sleep.
Before fully succumbing to the sleep that was gripping at you, you found yourself mutter a soft, barely audible, “Love you so much Len,”
“I love you too dear” Softly, with so much care behind the normally gruff voice was the last thing you registered before you were fully asleep.
A/N: This isn’t like anything I’ve written before. I tried to make it feel like there was an easy intimate relationship between Len and the reader.

Typing the access code into the keypad in front of you, you enter the room. You were greeted with the wonderful sight of your boyfriend, slipping out of his uniform. His head turns when he hears the mechanical hiss of the door opening. The doctor smiles in greeting, but his happy gaze slowly shifts into a confused one as he watches your dejected form slink passed him.
“What’s the matter darlin’?” He questions as you face plant onto the bed.
“Today has been an awful day,” you reply, turning your face from being smushed into a pillow to the side so he can hear you.
“And why’s that?” He asks as he takes a seat next to you, disregarding the shower he was about to take.
“You know Lieutenant Garcia?”
“Yeah, what about her?” He moves onto his side facing you. His head rests on the palm of his hand, so he’s propping himself up on his elbow. He begins to rub soothing circles on your back, through your uniform, as you start to explain the events of your day.
“Well, Jim assigned her to pick an away team to go down to that new M-class water-based planet next week.”
“Oh, I see, you weren’t put on the team and that's got ya feelin' down,” he realizes before you’re even halfway through your story.
“But that’s not all!” You exclaim, suddenly sitting up.
“Go on then,” he says while sitting up as well, leaning against the backboard and opening his arms inviting you in. Moving into his embrace you choose to rest your head on his chest, as his arm securely hugs your shoulders, and you throw one of your legs over his waist.
“I went up to ask her why I wasn’t chosen and she told me it was because Ensign Chen was more qualified.” Your hands busy themselves as you rant, running up and down Leonard’s still shirtless chest as you talk.
“Is he?” He prompts you to continue.
“No!” You say, getting heated all over again. “I’m the only xeno-biologist with a specification in marine life that wasn’t chosen to go. Ensign Chen is specialized in insects. I don’t see how the bug guy is going to help do research on all the damned fish down there.”
Laughing Len shifts your position so you’re completely on top of him, legs on either side of his own.
“What did Garcia say when you confronted her?” Leonard drags his hands through your hair lightly scraping your scalp with his nails.
“She told me specializations weren’t the only factors she considered when she chose,” you groaned and buried your face into his bare neck. “She hates me, doesn’t she?”
“Sweetheart she doesn’t hate you,” he whispers while sliding his hands up your uniform shirt to caress your skin. “She just sees potential in a young crew member and wants a chance to watch how he handles himself in a situation he's never been in, on top of being in a new environment. She knows that you're capable of doin' the same amount of responsibility everyone else is. This is just her branchin' out, and testin' the other people in her crew.”
“Thanks, Lee, you always know what to say,” you tell him, rolling off of him and standing up. "At least I know you'll always love me. I can't say the same for Lieutenant Gracia though," he chuckles at your words, rolling his eyes at your antics.
You offer your hand out to him. Grabbing it he stands up and you lead him to the small bathroom on the other side of the room. Facing him you run your hands from his shoulders to the top of his pants, unbuttoning them, you slide them and his underwear down his legs. Then he grabs the hem of your science blue shirt, pulling it up he admires your almost bare torso. Lovingly, he strokes his hands down your sides to push your pants down. You take off your bra and underwear as Leonard starts the shower, warming up the water.
Stepping in you stand under the stream, you grab the bottle of body wash to your right and pour some into your hands. Turning to face Len you start lathering it onto his skin. You massage your hands down his chest, washing away the smell of medbay that always seems to linger on him. He turns around once you've finished cleansing his front so you can continue your movements on his rear. Taking a moment you admire him like this, strong back and nice ass on full display. You drag out the process of going down his back, rubbing the knots from a long day of work out of his muscles. A little groan escapes him when you work out one excessively hard knot. Switching places he rinses off his soapy body before grabbing the bottle and returning the favor.
You savor this feeling. Of being immersed in him. Everything is calm, a stark difference from your lives outside of this shower, outside of your room, outside of your safe haven, outside of his arms. Sighing you enjoy the feeling of him gently coating your figure with soap. His hands kneading into your skin make you just about melt into him.
You repeat the motions but now you’re washing each other’s hair slowly, thoroughly. The moment is pure bliss. It’s not sensual, it’s love in its most unadulterated form. Just being in such a vulnerable position with the man that holds your affections is calming. He always knows what to do to brighten up your day, he truly understands you, and you have fallen completely, madly in love with him.
As you come out of the shower you grab one of the towels hanging on the racks and toss it to Leonard who is close behind you. Taking the remaining one you both dry off together. The silence in the steaming bathroom isn’t awkward, it’s comforting.
Walking into the bedroom you don’t bother putting clothes on and head straight to the bed. Sliding back the covers you pat the empty spot next to you. Leonard is there in a second, ensconcing you with his embrace. The skin to skin contact lulls you deeper and deeper into a relaxed state. Right as you’re about to completely doze off you hear him speak.
“I love you, darlin’,” his voice is barely above a whisper.
“I love you, too, Lee,” and with this those words you drift into a calm slumber, cuddled into the man you love.
