same tho. that's how i felt about their live show. like, it was v fanservice-y and just them persisting with a lot of cringe old tropes of theirs, but at the end of it i was just left extremely proud because of how far they've come. it was totally them selling out to the 12 year old fans and it made me uncomfortable in parts, but i could see how hard they tried to make something fun and how happy they were and it was just fun.
seriously I’m so happy for their success and being able to witness their journey to get there. I just find myself not enjoying their videos as much anymore.
I mean if you watch their older content it’s literally just whatever they wanted to talk about and it was more bizzare (on phil’s part) and sometimes more mature subjects (mature in the sense that, yknow, you had to have a certain amount of life experience to get it).
but these days they’re pandering to the middle school girls because that’s what’s paying their rent. Which I understand.
the only thing I don’t miss is the no-homo howell era where he went to incredible lengths to prove his not-gayness which was a bit ridiculous I mean honey, you have lived with the same boy for 6 years, have matching hairstyles, and both of you have been supposedly single the entire time. there’s gonna be some assumptions regardless of the preteen shipper crowd. and i’m not going to go into the vday video unprivating fiasco holy shit
tl;dr I love them but I miss their old stuff
