the two of them move through the back alleys of the upper layer like twin shadows. the night is quieter here, their footsteps on the pavement audible, and almost all lack the security the main streets would have which means most citizens of the layer wouldn't dream of being caught here. it makes it a perfect place for them utilize and helps her relax some before they reach their destination where she'll need to go on the alert once again.
neatech is not a name that brings skye fond memories. it's the name that's been weaponized and aimed at many a member of the movement by their owners, her self included, when their defiance became apparent. it is the same company who denies her people's self-awareness as a reality and who have dumbed it down mere faulty coding. jona surrendered himself to them, to a fate that she'd rather not think about. while neatech may be her birthplace, it could surely be her deathbed, or worse.
when one is in a position such as she is, however, grievances have to be pushed aside and compartmentalized to accept even experimental visits to neatech being a necessary evil. most could say for her to send someone else, but in her eyes it isn't even an option on the table. this isn't about her. it's about something that could be crucially beneficial to the movement as a whole.
skye shakes herself from her thoughts, eyes glancing to leon, the reason they're traveling to neatech for spare parts right this moment. he's an unlikely companion for something like this since, as far as she knows, he sticks mostly to helping with repairs of others in the movement. unfortunately, she's knows very little about him beyond his assistance to the cause despite seeing him around a fair bit and that bothers her, to be honest. the movement is a group of individuals after all and each one is important.
"how are you doing, leon? are you nervous?" she questions, voice soft, gazing at him out of the corner of her eyes as her fingers readjust the strap of her backpack when she feels it slipping off of her shoulder.
