JAWS! The impressive jaws and canines of a Leopard Seal and the powerful fore flippers. They feed on penguins and even other seals and they have a surplus of penguins that are easy to catch when young penguins first go to sea. Otherwise penguins can be difficult to catch, especially outside the breeding season. They also feed on fish and half the diet of a Leopard Seal is krill! To feed on krill the teeth in the side of the jaw come to three points (tricuspid) so the teeth in the upper and lower jaw come together to filter out krill. A bit like Crabeater Seals that are the krill specialists, and baleen whales. Check out the tricuspid teeth in the photo. #Leopardseal #Leopardsealjaw #g_expedition #antarctic_ambassadors #Gadventures #tricuspidteeth #krill #penguins #kevthenatureguide #naturalexplorer https://www.instagram.com/p/B_OWHqaD8Bu/?igshid=fjikfzs7h0nx
