ASSIGNMENT #2

The images above are of two works by artist Leopold Foulem. Foulem is a ceramic artist who commonly works with found objects to remix traditional ceramic forms to explore ideas. I enjoy this work because of the humor and playfulness of the pieces.  I feel that this work also fits in with the class theme of utility/futility because in the works above he is taking a functional form, the goblet, and rendering it futile through the addition of the absurd stems.

Dinner with Leopold Foulem was quite nice, he's a kind man with strong opinions.   In other news, I may apply for a position in Kingston, Ontario at a ceramic studio. Wish me luck :) I'll post an image of Foulem's work if anyone is wondering who I'm referring to. He has also written several popular academic essays.
