A Rare Chicken Spout ‘Yingqing’ Ewer, Song Dynasty China (960-1279 AD)
Know Justice – No Justice
I’m still struggling, after 3 days, with this image, and with the reality of our 45th President. I’m pondering how to record history while also not perpetuating the image of a leader who’s actions I don’t condone or respect.
I believe that knowing our history is essential to changing our future. That continues to be what this work is about.
“Peace is a journey of a thousand miles and it must be taken one step at a time.” – Lyndon Johnson, 1963, speach to the United Nations. (at Ferrin Contemporary)

Henri Cole on what it’s like to see his poetry illuminated by the artist Jenny Holzer:
Seeing my poems projected in this way, onto landscapes and buildings, I feel that the words leap out from a different zone, where they are observed as much as read. Language is more direct, open, unself-conscious, precise, and human. It doesn’t belong to me anymore but to the atmosphere, and this makes me happy.

Katsuyo Aoki. The Void/Trolldom/The Void III, 2012-15
“Katsuyo Aoki is best known for her ceramic sculptures that apply delicate, swirling forms to dark subject matter. Aoki is best known for her works in relief or in the round, and an ornate style that draws from a range of decorative styles. Her works often look radically different from varying perspectives. Frequently used motifs and forms include the skull, the crown, and dismembered parts of animals—allusions to historic narratives and mythologies.” [x]
