A post by African Music Forum (AMF) pointed to a blog post about Jorge Ben Jor's 1976 album AfricaBrazil. It is a great album and thier post got my thoughts wound up about it. One song on it is "Taj Mahal". which Rod Stewart, consciously or not, appropriated for his song "Do You Think I'm Sexy." Taj Mahal released the song "Jorge Ben" on his 1979 record Live and Direct lest there be any question whose song "Taj Mahal" was.
"Chove Chuva" is a song on Jorge Ben Jor's debut album Samba Esquema Novo from 1963. The album leads with his song "Mas que Nada".
I really like the players on with Makeba , Bill Salter on bass, Sivuca--Severino Dias De Oliveira--on guitar and accordian, and Leopoldo Fleming on drums.
I was happy to see the Bill Salter is on Tik Tok. HIs grandaughter Jada has made a documentary, Just the Two of Us. The titile comes from one of Salter's best known songs.
