Ben Sidran, the greatest contemporary hipster
Pianist, singer, author Ben Sidran is playing the Sunside club in Paris for two more nights if you want to check him out (12th Thursday and 13th Friday Nov. 2015). His two latest releases are Don’t Cry for No Hipster and Blue Camus.
He has played music across the board, from the Steve Miller Band to Johnny Griffin, the Rolling Stones to Phil Woods. His texts are as witty as it gets and they’re propelled by laid-back, bluesy grooves.
Discussing the essence of jazz and its roots today, we agreed on one thing: ‘Jazz is not art. It’s chicken’. The epitome of cool.
