Julie Dash, 1991. Daughters of the Dust
do you remember this back in elementary school?
digital alchemy eh?
if only I could share this great sense of synergy in finding this course …
it was cold and rainy out on campus
a perfect day for thoughts to roam
frustrated w/ my own entrepreneurial pursuits, in particular ?
well, just constructing a dynamic yet digestible “editorial”
that would serve my peers & client’s questions about my new directions and pursuits
from the east coast, to the west coast, from fashion major to chem.
out west, an experience that was monumental to my attending now,
K e a n U n i v e r s i t y … to be close to family again
I hope to incorporate my passions for repurposing and investigating materiality,
physically and existential,
to utilize learnings in chemistry,
to both concert and instrument my inquiries, of the science’s connection
to my 1st love - “fashion.”
exploring it’s infinite spaces b/ the sectors of :
art, architecture, braiding, design, fashion history, hair, literature, math
along w/ my heart’s nucleic beat, film photography and image direction!
I believe digital alchemy & storytelling to be EXACTLY the metaphor and tools I need,
to expand on stories of the land, onto the digital space,
to then weave those influences off-line … (on-land + in my lab),
by creating repurposed works of ornamentation and hair sculpture,
beautiful works of (gold) …
I am,
le - petit jo
watch me carve and spin,
mhm.
digital alchemy for story-telling,
I’m all in … all prose … oui ;)
… to quote fellow french - african director [ samba gadjigo ]
“ no identity w/o memory …
no memory w/ no story ”
here, my story’s elements
here, my potion …
here, your alchemist
