There’s this idea that Enjolras is this man who is so stoic and full of Righteous Anger(TM) and is just done 100% with idiocy, and while yes, I can see how that came about, but like,

Enjolras in the brick is just so thoughtful about everything he does, and cares deeply about everyone around him. He treats everyone equally and fairly and lovingly.

He’s just lost in his own thoughts half the time, and just loves to watch his friends joke and have fun, and just cares so much, but also can have tunnel vision and isn’t that great with assessing the relative normal response to things and ends up being chaotic.

Please just give me an Enjolras that loves and cries and feels so so deeply, and may seem scary or quiet but is actually so thoughtful of others and actually kind of lacking in common sense and wants to be seen as human and be able to open up to people and show them that he has flaws and faults and is human.

I know there’s this idea that Combeferre is the dad of the group and like, the most mature, and I love Dad-Friend Combeferre as much as the next person, but

Combeferre in the Brick is just so chaotic and insane. He has a million interests and hobbies and doesn’t take any bullshit.

He’s clearly the random fucking relative that you have no idea how he’s related but he’s there and unhinged and mildly scary and lost in his own world and thoughts.

Please just give me Combeferre who is just so out there and mildly crazy and just such an amalgamation of interests and comebacks and whims.

What's your favourite version of Les Mis? the movel? The musical? One of the many many movies? The French Concept Album? Shoujo Cosette?

And why?

Okay, this is really hard! As much as I love pretty much all of the adaptations, because they all bring something new to the table and emphasize different aspects, I would have to say my top three, in no particular order, are as follows:

Shoujo Cosette. Because I love some of the little details that really pull on your heart strings, including Gavroche and Cosette’s friendship and Enjolras explaining why he fights to Gavroche. Oh, and Prouvaire’s death hurts so much- But also, there’s humour, like the whole everyone is attracted to Enjolras and the picnic thing, and also Javert like arriving with lightning, and Small-Hands Montparnasse.

The Brick. It’s the classic, and is charming in it’s own way. All the tangents and random details and diatribes. Plus, it’s so ridiculous and over-the-top that it’s almost unreal that some of the scenes actually happen!

The 1978 Movie. Okay, so, stick with me. It does have the eggregious error of practically erasing Les Amis (and Patron-Minette), but it is gorgeous in it’s portrayal of Valjean and his experiences. It also features some of the more insane things Valjean does, like the coffin bit, and his power move escapes. Plus, Javert is wonderfully complex in the movie. It takes the beginning of the story and really gets to what I would say is the meat of what Hugo was trying to get across.

There’s so many other versions that I love and would love to go on and on about, but those are probably my top three, again, in no particular order. Thank you so much for asking! :)
