valjean has been having his breakdown for my entire lunch hour, and people say les mis isnt relatable any more

i've been called courfeyrac like 10 times ths week already PLUS I have a friend crashing at our place and as he came in he said I HAVE COME TO SLEEP WITH YOU i don't think you understand how i feel guys you really don't

And then thoughts.

Love Valjean, even more than the first time. He spends his life trying to be a better person and to make up for his sins. And even given 19 years of horrible conditions and unjust punishment and then prejudice even after that, he managed to turn his life around and do the right thing, and live an honourable life, and love again.

Javert, idk, he's a very good character, but kind of in the same way that Snape is? I love him for the role he plays in the story and find him very interesting, but I can't like him. It's kind of sad, because he's so scared of being wrong and having to change his worldview that he'd rather die. But I can't like or even really respect someone who refuses to admit or accept their wrongdoings, doesn't think for themselves, and doesn't try to become a better person. 

I care more about what you're trying to do to make the world and yourself better, than what you have done in the past. (That's still important, but just less so? Although like if you're Hannibal Lecter I don't even care I hate you full stop get away from Will Graham you dickbag)

Also pretty boys and the Les Amis scenes are so much better post-tumblr when I know the characters a little better and I definitely ship e/r :P
