Well, this was certainly an odd change. He was, of course used to people who died on their worlds appearing on his. But they were usually human. So this was a very unexpected change. And something was happening to him. But he didn’t have time to work that out right now. He knew what process would follow sensing her appearance. He picked her up and made his way home.

Eventually he made his way to his home, teleporting himself inside as both hands were occupied. He took her to a guest room and then put her down onto the bed in that guest room. Then he moved to stand against the wall with his arms crossed. He would now patiently wait until she woke up, so he could explain the situation.

 but it isn’t. G’raha has ALWAYS felt fractured. Like there was something missing. A word on the tip of his tongue. A memory just out of reach. He spent so long trying to find that hidden truth. The missing piece of the puzzle. He found it, but he also found an ancient duty. A burden to protect the world from the Crystal Tower. And because of that, he was to abandon his world altogether. Yet here he was, returned to the world of the living. Yet another terrible burden ‘pon his shoulders. 

  Maybe he hated that she told him. Maybe he hated that he woke up at all. But better she told him the truth than conceal it. He would have noticed, of course. The sadness in Etoile’s eyes. The distance. Even without knowing she was comparing them. A HIM from the future. A HIM he would never remember. A HIM he would never be. Alas, he tried to force himself to remember. As if he could remember another lifetime. Another self. A future erased. With the Crystal Tower, he thought it may be possible. Was he just to replace the him she lost? The pain he had lived with before. The feeling of something missing. The distance between himself and other people. It somehow feels worse. But that is not the worst part of this. 

  This sickness. Feelings that he had for her before only grew. Despite their short shared time, it still felt like his heart was stolen. This heartbreak, knowing she loved him but NOT him. Even if the love wasn’t the same sort he held for her, it mattered little. Compared to the other one, HE mattered little. This other him was strong enough to save her, save the world even. He can’t even fully control the energy of the tower. 

  “.... Ah, Etoile. You know that just isn’t true.”

It hurts.

It hurts so much.

The light meant for Etoile would not reach her. Not when she were near her limit. The lightwarden known as Innocence was no more, and now his whole body burned from the light. It took all of his strength to just stay standing while his sister yelled for him to move. To let their warrior take the light instead.

And as soon as the light reached him, he knew there was no coming back from this. He fell to his knees, a hand being the only thing stopping him from collapsing outright. His other hand was held over his heart, Alphinaud was practically gasping for air as the light easily escaped. There was no blessing to hold it. No blessing to save him.

And yet... He didn’t regret this. This would surely save his friend. The footsteps caught his attention, however. With all of the yelling and panic, the footsteps stood out to him most of all.

{ALPHINAUD} ---- “Don’t... Don’t get near me!”

He coughed up some of the light, a groan leaving him as the light continued to burn away at his soul.

“Are you staying up all night again?” G’raha was unnerved by this. Though there was logic in staying up all night (gods, did he know that well), it wasn’t good to be doing that as often as she did. “By the Twelve, Etoile... I’d thought you said you’d sleep tonight.”

The worry in his voice only heightened. “What if I make you a nightcap? Will that help you go sleep?”

“What? Give you a hug?” He gives a soft smile, thinking on it. “Guess this means that I’ll have to do this more often to get you used to it! --Ah, I jest. I wouldn’t do it without your permission, of course.”

“Well, if I am really cute. You must be ridiculously cute, because you’re definitely cuter then me. Just look at that face of yours.” Noctis simply stated in response and started to squeeze his hands between either sides of her cheeks. 

“I could just kiss this face to death. Perhaps I will!” He said, tackling her to the ground in a quick instant and then pressing his lips against her cheek repeatedly, then her forehead, then the other cheek and pretty much all over.

The man was simply sat on the couch with a bored look on his face, everything that was on the TV right now was a repeat that he had seen before. It caused him to yawn in response as he felt like going to have a word with the networks of his region. 

That was until he felt the woman cuddling up against him, which brought a smile to his lips and caused him to nuzzle against her and then pull her onto his lap, blocking his view of the TV. This was much better then repeats. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close against him. Then pressed his lips against her cheeks repeatedly. 

“Mine, mine, mine~”

A staff member at the orphanage he checked up on in his city had asked about his general life and his love life in particular, which caused him to instantly think of a certain someone and then a rare smile would appear on his features.

“I used to be lonely in that big home of mine, then Etoile arrived and that changed. I feel guilty for being so happy, because she’s only here because she died before old age and ended up being reborn here. Now she’s my life, can’t imagine it without her. I would do anything for her, to an extent. Good or bad. Saving or killing.” 

There was pause. “I wanted to come here today, I always will. But doesn’t change the fact that every moment away from her is unbearable to me. I want her back in my arms, I want to take in her scent, feel her lips against hers, taste her and everything.”

He noticed the kids were all getting tired and were out of it. “Well, looks like I’m done here. Back to my Etoile.” He said, disappearing instantly from the orphanage.
