Flying during peak hours in the milky way is just asking for trouble, but Juniper was determined to meet another being such as themselves.
Ever since the great merger happened thousands of years ago over half of the homosapien species became extinct. The year is 2752 and the planet Earth has long since self-destructed.
Juniper switched channels on their neuro server as they weaved their way through peak-hour traffic. Loud waves of music streamed out of the speakers of their autoship.
Bobbing their head along to the music, Juniper began thinking of her. They entered the coordinates into the ship's central command station and activated autopilot mode.
Closing their eyes and relaxing into the pilot chair Juniper began to pull up the pictures she sent on their neuro server.
Blinking to activate the zoom function, Juniper retraced every detail of her body. She stands at a medium height, her curvy build a testament to the rich blend of her Afro-ethnic background. Her eyes, a mesmerizing hazel, sparkle with the wisdom of generations past and the curiosity of the ever-expanding horizon. Her strawberry blonde hair is cut into a chic curly bob that frames her face with wild, untamed elegance, and her full, pink-tinted lips often break into a knowing smile that hints at the secrets she keeps.
Her curvy, full-figured silhouette is accentuated by the form-fitting synth weave she often dons in a metallic shade that shifts with the light, hinting at the advanced technology that is used to protect our species.
Feeling the ship suddenly start to descend, Juniper opens their eyes bringing them back into the present. There’s a parking droid gratingly shouting commands into the ship's server, “Auto-ship 2769 Clitphoria must pay an entry fee of 30 zebs to park!”.
Juniper, sighing, enters her neuro server to transfer the zebs to the droid system. “Happy now?”, they ask, watching the parking droid process the funds. “Auto-ship 2769 Clitphoria may enter, welcome to Nebulas Bar”, the parking droid opens the barrier shield and the ship slowly starts to land in the parking area.
“This could be a really fun night or an absolute shit show,” they thought aloud, their voice coated in sarcasm.
The hum of the ship's life support faded into the background as Juniper stepped into the curved wardrobe chamber of their personal quarters aboard the Clitphoria. Soft bioluminescent lights pulsed gently along the walls, illuminating the sleek metallic panels and the mirror—no, not just a mirror, but a NeuroLink Reflector, tuned precisely to Juniper’s cognitive signature.
They took a breath, steadying the flutter of anticipation that coiled in their stomach. Tonight wasn’t just another orbital check-in or mission debrief. Tonight was a date—with someone who made the vastness of space feel warm.
“Activate Stylist Protocol,” Juniper thought silently.
The mirror responded with a ripple of silver light, and their reflection blurred, replaced by an ethereal avatar—fluid in shape, aglow with soft gradients of lavender and dusk-blue. The interface scanned Juniper’s mood, neural spikes revealing a cocktail of excitement, nerves, and just a hint of flirtation.
"Evening setting detected," chimed the mirror's voice, velvet-smooth with crystalline undertones. "Desire: elegant, with an edge. Energy level: elevated. Emotion: hopeful. Date protocol engaged."
A series of outfits shimmered into projection around their silhouette. Each look was designed to suit not just Juniper’s body—but their essence. One outfit caught their breath: a tailored, collarless jacket in zero-gravity silk, its surface a shifting spectrum of moonstone and meteor grey. Underneath, a structured mesh top revealed just enough to intrigue, paired with high-waisted pants that tapered like comet trails—sleek, stylish, and kinetic. Micro-jewels glinted faintly along the seams like stardust, syncing to the rhythm of their biofield.
Juniper turned slightly, watching the simulated light bounce off each fabric detail. The ensemble moved with them, responsive and intelligent, adapting to their body temperature and heartbeat.
“Mark selection,” they said aloud, a soft smile playing on their lips.
The mirror glowed briefly as nanoweave filaments unfurled from the surrounding alcoves, dressing them in a fluid motion. The textures bonded seamlessly to their skin, forming a second skin of comfort and confidence.
As the final shimmer settled into place, Juniper studied their reflection—not just dressed, but embodied. A radiant balance of softness and edge, mystery and magnetism. Perfect for a night among the stars… and with someone who mattered.
They smoothed a hand over their chest, the fabric warm to the touch. “Let’s go make gravity optional.”
The wardrobe door slid open, revealing the corridor bathed in evening hues from the ship's ambient systems. With a confident step, Juniper walked out, their presence turning the spaceship’s sleek interior into a personal runway.
Juniper connects their neuro server to the Bars database to enter the invitation link. The bar’s security protocol chimes a response in their mind and grants them entrance, teleporting them inside the main entryway.
Nebula's Bar wasn’t loud—but it thrummed with low synth beats and starport energy. Violet lights flickered along the crystalline walls, casting playful glows over translucent drink vessels and the diverse crowd of off-duty explorers, traders, and rogue philosophers.
Juniper stood near the curved window, drink in hand, watching ion trails streak across the blackness of space. Their breath was steady, their outfit impeccable—but their mind raced.
That inexplicable gravitational pull—like the world had shifted around them. They turned slowly, drawn by something just beyond the senses, and there she was.
She stepped through the automatic doors as if she belonged to the stars themselves. Her skin was radiant, kissed by galaxies—deep, warm brown with undertones of amber light. Her figure, confident and grounded, moved with a natural rhythm that made everything else in the bar seem overly mechanical by contrast.
Nebula’s short, curly strawberry-blonde hair bounced with each step, a halo of sunfire around her face. Her hazel eyes scanned the room with quiet awareness, landing finally on Juniper—and when they met, it was like two systems syncing, quietly but irrevocably.
Juniper forgot the glass in their hand.
The subtle smile on Nebula’s lips curved like an orbit. She wore a form-fitting exosuit that shimmered faintly with magnetic threads—sleek, midnight navy with accents of copper and rose gold, wrapping her frame with both elegance and edge. A thin crystal collar pulsed with soft light, reacting gently to her heartbeat.
And Juniper—usually so composed—felt every line of their form come alive under her gaze.
Nebula crossed the space between them with calm confidence, her voice rich and smooth as she said, “You must be Juniper.”
Juniper could only nod at first, their thoughts scrambling to catch up with the moment. “Nebula,” they said, at last, letting the name linger like a note of music. “You’re… not what I expected.”
She chuckled softly, her eyes glinting. “Good. I didn’t come all this way to be predictable.”
They stood there, just looking at each other, the noise of the bar softening to a murmur beneath the moment blooming between them. Juniper offered their hand—not in greeting, but in quiet invitation.
Nebula took it without hesitation.
The sensation was electric—not just touch, but a recognition. A resonance.
In that instant, Juniper’s internal systems shifted and recalibrated. The date protocol in their neuro server flickered quietly in the background, registering elevated emotional indicators, micro-expression matches, and hormonal flux. But none of that mattered. What mattered was the soft warmth of Nebula’s palm in theirs, the curve of her smile, the closeness of her breath.
She leaned in, close enough that Juniper could feel the hum of her suit's energy signature. “Wanna get out of here?”
Juniper smiled—fully now, openly. “Only if we drift together.”
As they stepped away from the bar, side by side, the stars outside seemed to lean in just a little closer, curious and quiet, to witness the birth of something rare in the void.
