I know I need to stop posting so many selfies, but this filter is life
I apologize for the spam
Instead of writing, I decided to start reorganizing my Masterlist and creating separate pages for each character (Billy, Ben, Ryan and Logan) .... finished with Billy and Ben, and I’m planning on continuing with Ryan and Logan tomorrow.
Things will probably still change a little as I get some banners made to make it all look nicer... but now at least you won’t have to scroll through a long page to find a story - I think everything is much easier to read through now.
Thank you for your patience with me!
that bpd feel when u throw away half of your belongings in a mania-induced organization fest also here’s Eloise with a shell stuck on her face
Driving home for Christmas..
Yup, Christmas came early for Alex and I, but in reality, it came late...
On 14thJuly we watched as all our earthly belongings were picked up and shipped off from Dresden for the long voyage, via England and parts of Asia, to arrive in Brisbane on 9thOctober. There were guitars, a recording studio's worth of gear, suitcases full of clothes, books, coffee mugs, more books, vintage clothing, teddy bears, boots, dresses with pockets, photos, artwork, skateboards, sneakers, a Nirve cruiser, a madagascan chair, more boots and a Mexican sombrero.
Yesterday, 23rdDecember, everything finally got here...
We've been quite frustrated with living out of a suitcase since mid July until mid December. We had expected to fly in July and our stuff to arrive, at home, in early October. In stead we flew in September and our stuff arrived at home in December.
It's not all bad, in fact I like the “less is more” approach to owning “stuff”, however with the change in weather, the stranded Aussie stress in Germany, the fact is, we basically rotate the same shirts and clothes weekly, and it's nice to have some old (new) things in the cupboard.
Honestly, I think I have too much stuff and the move has helped me thin out my belongings. I moved through 3 countries in 18 years and it helped a lot to keep the numbers down. But there's still items I just can't part with.
In 2020, I actually sold 5 guitars and bought only 1, go me!!! That was a stressful time and I miss those guitars!!!
I really do try to throw things out or sell them, but it's tough. In 2020 I sold A LOT! I sold 1/2 of my studio, and just kept the bare minimum to continue working. I threw out a lot of T-shirt, I really just kept the band shirts I had...
I own too many T-shirts, some I haven't even worn, and I just can't chuck them... At least not yet. I have promised myself I will not buy any new (or vintage) clothing for at least 3 years, unless it is completely necessary... I don't need to!!! I have to commit to hoarding less... Buying less...
Although, I did see a nice guitar on Ebay yesterday.... It would make a fine addition to my collection... Hmmmm...
Anyhow, the first 24 hours since our items arrived, have been an exciting walk down memory lane. See, most of my belongings have been stored in various places during the 18 months prior to leaving Germany. This is the first time everything I own is under one roof, and it will stay here for quite some time. I doubt I'll even unpack it all until Alex and I move into our own home. And again, a chance to walk down memory lane...
I can finally see how much I have... For someone who's 40, in reality, it probably ain't that much, but really I wouldn’t mind if it was less... That would give me more to focus on...
Less is simple... Less is more... Less is less work... Less choices to make...
Stress less...
Thanks for reading,
Josh
So I did something today that I’ve been meaning to do for a while. I went through all my clothes and donated everything that no longer fit. I even dropped it off at the Goodwill.
TBH I think the inks are stronger than the colored version on this one.
