A pool of blue Chionodoxa sardensis (lesser glory of the snow) welcomes visitors to the Gravel Garden at the Beth Chatto Garden, Essex. The flowers of this bulbous perennial looked great growing amongst the upright golden leaves of Libertia peregrinans (wandering Chilean iris) and alongside the grey felt leaves of Verbascum (mullein).
