at 21 i’m still not sure what box to tick when it comes to myself. i don’t know what to be. is it really necessary? to make choices. to say i will give up all that for this and nothing else and that is the only way it should be. i should be. it feels both wonderfully romantic and utterly old fashioned to dictate at a certain time and age whatever it is that we’re supposed to be and do and say and think. i’m not afraid of commitment, on the contrary really. i jump headfirst and let it consume me. but when when i go to the ice cream shop, i ask to try all the flavours before picking my usual order and it’s not that i don’t like them, it’s just that i wanna be sure. i wanna be sure i’ve been making the right choice all along. that it’s still adequate and preferable to the other tempting ones, which i can’t know if i haven’t try them. and maybe that’s what i ought to be doing right now. trying all the flavours of life. (i bet there’ll be some sour ones.) and maybe then i’ll be ready to say, yes this is the one. it’s always been this one. maybe i’ll find there was never another box on the page at all.

30. When it comes to the arts (music, film, theater, etc.), what does your character like?
He loves it all. There is an admiration to be found in how a bard or singer can move the hearts of those with melodies; theater, with their staged acting and ability to embody fictional characters and breathe life to wonderful script play; poets, writers, with all the imagination in the world and ablity to convey it artistically with the right words and an open heart reserved for parchment and eyes; sculptures, architecture, fashion designers –
He could talk about his love for the arts all day to anyone willing to listen to him ramble animatedly. But he is only a mere hobby painter who thinks his paintings doesn’t hold a candle to those he admires the work of. But he’s still proud of them.
31. Would your be the kind capable of killing? or only use it when necessary or, perhaps, refuse to kill no matter what?
Chanai is very capable of killing. He’s done it before. That doesn’t mean he enjoys it, but if it must be done, so be it. He approaches the decision in a very clinical fashion, and often a last resort.
39. When people look at your character, is there some assumption they might make about them just by appearance? Is that assumption correct?
Because of his demeanor at times and appearance, people would assume he is not a threat to be taken seriously. It’s something he uses to his advantage, of course, but the assumption is never correct.
The play mentioned in the tags to the post below wasn't Ibsen; it was Strindberg. The Stronger.
