This is my favest scene of the season
Because the lyrics are talking about Syd.
The name of the song is: Let Me Live In Your City (Work In Progress)
The song talks about those ppl that feel like home.
The part of the song they left out of the clip is the most Carmy-like part, but the one they used canonically is actually about Syd, the house, the home, where the heart is.
Here´s the part Storer left out:
Some people never say the words "I love you."
It's not their style to be so bold
Some people never say those words "I love you"
But like a child, they're longing to be told.
He has trouble with those words; he can say them, but they are not his style. He’s longing to be told that by someone who feels like home. Not like being on fire.
Now the part Storer used as soundtrack of the scene is this one:
You got the cool water
When the fever runs high
You got the look of love light in your eyes
And I was in crazy motion
Till you calmed me down
It took a little time
But you calmed me down
She feels like home to him.
He dreams of a home like this:
Where he can feel like he felt that day in Frank Lloyd Wright´s house.
Bonus track: This architect is known for building houses that let light in. S5 is gonna be all about that. Carmy is a house, a WIP, he´s building himself, and wants to build a house that lets light in. Syd is home, Syd´s the light in the house; it´s what makes it a home he actually wants to live in. That is why he used the word "building" to refer to Syd indirectly. She´s the building for him, she´s the house, she feels like home, she calms him down, like in the song. C is the fire, and Syd is the cool water. She´s the house that lets light in, like the ones Lloyd Wright built.
Like the light that comes in and lights up the house is what Frank Lloyd Wright deemed most important in his designs, not the building itself, but the openings of it that let light in.
Carmy will let light in through his cracks next season. For now, he just realized who feels like home, who doesn´t. He´s a WIP. He won´t let her fix him; he´s fixing rebuilding himself to let light in.
