Searching had hurt him, as he was trying for so long to find the other, his heart aching as he just had others telling him that Aaron wouldn’t have just left, that he has to keep trying. The younger dragon had barely managed to break in, but he still doesn’t know how he could ever get his soulmate out at this point.
The cage makes his heart sink, noticing it just to have Umbra shouting out that, that’s where his husband is. That’s where he needs to go, everything is telling him he has to, the dragon running to soulmate’s cage. It hurts more than anything else to see Aaron how he does, calling for his soulmate just to be greeted with silence at first.
“Aaron.” The first time he says the other’s name is greeted with that laugh and deep down, it hurts him more than anything, it pained him deep down. Something about the laughter shocks him, making him sit down and trying not to overreact to it all. Perhaps just the feeling that his husband thinks this isn’t real, that he hasn’t found him.
“Aaron, please, I’m real. I’m here, I found you, please, I’ve been searching...” He feels like crying, reaching through the bars in a desperate attempt to feel okay, to feel that comfort that only comes from just even the lightest of touches. He sniffles, moving to a side of the cage where he can hold the other, moving his arms through to hold him as tight as he can, not sure what to do at this point, not knowing where to go to possibly grab the key. “Please, I’m here-”
