“What good is that sword, anyway? A good sneeze would break it in half...”
Snip.
Snip.
"You know, I don't know why you're fussing so much. You're lucky to have gotten out of there with your life, Kriann." Lethala frowned down at him, running a comb through his hair.
"It's just--I know it's stupid and it's not really a big deal and It'll grow back..." Kriann grumbled, his eyes screwed shut, unable to bring himself to look at the ongoing process. "It's just an identity thing, y'know? It's never ever been this short..."
His sister shook her head, but she smiled.
Snip.
"I think you'll survive, Kri. But if it'll make you feel better I'll look into spells and stuff to make your hair grow faster." She leaned down and kissed his cheek. "Also I'm done."
Kriann cringed, and eventually cracked open an eye. It was terrible. His long, messy, dark red hair, that feature that was so individually Kriann was now almost completely gone. It's not to say it looked bad, cropped just below his ears, it was just...too different.
He looked away from his sister's mirror, and pulled his legs up to his chest.
"Thanks, Leth."
She reached down and ruffled his hair. He looked up at her, frowning at the way her smile didn't seem to reach her eyes. He got up and pulled her into a hug. "Really, thank you."
Lethala sighed, but returned the hug all the same. "You're welcome, little brother."
