Turnabout Misgivings // Closed RP

The detention center. Phoenix had been there on countless occasions at this point. Each time to talk with a client about their case, whether they were truly innocent or not. This time the case held a great deal of significance to the prosecutor’s office. The victim was one of their lead prosecutors, Prosecutor Edward Skylar. He was quite a well known force to be reckoned. Not quite the force that was the legendary Von Karma, but a man who rightfully put killers away. His son Aiden Skylar had been arrested as the suspect in his father’s murder. Phoenix was curious as to what his motive might be. After hearing that Edward was his only family, what reason would Aiden have for killing his father?

Phoenix sat with Maya as they waited for the guard to escort Aiden into the room. However, the boy they brought in was not who either had been expecting. The pair sat in stunned silence for a long moment as they watched a young boy, who looked to be barely twelve sat down behind the other side of the glass.

(This can’t be right... He’s just a kid.)

“Are you... Aiden Skylar?”

{~☣  Just a quick run, that is all this was suppose to be. Something he should have been able to do alone, all the infected supposedly cleared from the area. He’s going to hunt down the informant and politely let him know to how wrong they were. 

Dodging into a building, Joel slams the door shut and shoves a nearby shelf in front of it in order to prevent the small horde from getting inside, at least for now. 

After carefully reloading the weapons he held with the ammo he had left, did he push forward to make his way through the building. Always aware of his surroundings and guard up as there could be danger around every corner, especially decrepit buildings like this. He didn’t make far when there is the familiar sound of runners screaming like they would when they were chasing after someone. 

Staying quiet, so as not to pull them in his direction, Joel crept closer until the sounds got louder. Apparently this place has a lower level as the sounds were coming from below. Gently pushing the door open, his revolver held firmly in his hand the man hears splashing and hitting like they were trying to get at something. Nearing the ledge, he saw a boy frantically clinging to the wall on a bookshelf that appears ready to give way any second and no other way to go other than down. 

Surrounded by runners. 

Honestly, he could have just kept going, let the kid serve as a distraction to give him a clean getaway but the look on the boy’s face causes him to quickly throw his backpack to create a Molotov cocktail, while taking out another one and throwing it in the opposite direction of the kid. Catching some of their attention to start running toward it, to which he lit the cocktail and threw it at the gathering. Causing a shriek to be heard from them, before he stands up pulling his shot gun out to hit the remaining infected. 

“Get down!”  

Taking aim and firing on those that are left, keeping the barrel held before carefully lowering it. Eyes shifting to see if any were moving before looking at the boy, now heavily considering leaving him...but still there is a familiar tug that prevents him from walking away. 

“You all right?”  ☣~}
