We had the great pleasure of presenting Brazilian musicians,  Letieres Leite & Orkestra Rumpilezz in concert back in 2015. Collaborating with WRTI & Afro Latin Jazz Alliance, we participated in the band's first US tour. The performance took place at Temple Performing Arts Center at Temple University. It was a magical night. What Letieres Leite had developed with his Orkestra is a historic and revolutionary approach to the interplay between African, Afro-Brazilian and European ideas of rhythm, harmony and melody. It's hard to explain it. You have to see it, hear it, feel it to comprehend. We have all lost a brilliant artist, leader, visionary and teacher. Letieres Leite will be missed, but his music lives on. May he rest in power.
