So I came across your ask that asked about Ramadan and found the whole thing incredibly insightful. I'm not religious but grew up around a lot of different religions so I usually have a working knowledge but... I feel as your explanation as to why you do it (not just saying because God said to) makes a lot of sense. I actually sat back and let your explanation sink in a little and I have a new found respect for it. It makes me want to try for moral reasons instead of religious ones.

omg!! :O that’s awesome thank you so much for sending this in! honestly i def am encouraging of people trying it out; it’s only really hard the first three days or so and then it’s normal, you get used to it and it’s really rewarding! you actually get so used to it sometimes that even after sunset you’ll take like three bites of a meal and feel full.

it’s really rewarding both in knowing that you were able to do it successfully and also in empathizing with people that are less fortunate than you. not to mention the benefits of more self control! i’ve been fasting every year during ramadan since i was 11, so it’s pretty easy for me at this point. the only difficult things is when it’s really hot out during summer, so you get thirsty more often than not, but it’s a small price to pay when you get all the benefits of it.

ANYWHOMST if you do try it, i’d love to know! :O honestly if anyone is trying it for the first time, i’d be more than happy to talk in pm about how you’re doing and feeling and just chat ( ᵕ̤ ‧̫̮ ᵕ̤ ) one of my irl friends fasted with me and my fam once a few years ago and she was over for dinner to break the fast quite frequently bc my parents were so proud of her for doing it and wanted to invite her hehe.
