paige clapping after the 🥽 tech and the ref telling her ‘no’ ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
The amount of fics and scenarios I see with Leona being so aggressive for no reason, SPECIALLY to his partner and degrading is appalling to me. Are we seeing the same character? I thought I was going crazy. And there's not even sometimes normal fluff or romance in multiple characters fics. The suggestive part is always for Leona. Which sure bothers me a bit I guess? How most people just do those scenarios with him and usually it's him being so incredibly rude and mean and sometimes sexist??? Hello?
Hello Alice. You have done a fantastic job in raising my cortisol levels. This is a discussion I often have in small groups where I start clawing at my face and I transform once again; into the nerd emoji.
This is also what has turned me away from writing for Leona. Because he has been depicted solely as some brutish man who throws you around WWE style it makes me feel that if I depict him in fanfiction I will be the one who is wrong in how I write him. It just makes me clench my fists in anger. A lot of my Leona stuff I have posted are reposts, a commission, and one request. Because I don't have anything I'm in the mood share.
This phenomenon where Leona is depicted with the most sex appeal can actually be attributed to how he carries himself, and character design. In notes from Yana, she advises the artists not to show too much skin, but make it clear he needs some breathing room in his outfits. Leona has a very prideful or arrogant way of speaking which can be very attractive to many people watching him at a distance.
Leona in canon is actually a loner. He doesn't speak very much and he isn't the sex symbol people think he is. The sexualization of darker toned characters will exist forever especially because it's something that stands out among the cast of pale toned options. If that makes sense.
I have a hard time reading fanfiction of Leona. I sometimes reblog it to a different account if I think "Ah yes, satiating my goo brain." But when people say "He's rough and he tosses you aside like a dirty sock" that's just you stereotyping him as the horrible scary dark skinned character that's big and strong. The alpha male if I may be so bold.
I'm not saying Leona is incapable of rough sex. I'm not saying Leona can't trail his fingers over you're lower back and guide you down the hall as your escort to class. To which he says "You looked lost. What? Am I not allowed to be nice?" When you invest in the source material Leona isn't a big, mean, scary guy. He cares about people in a way that's subtle. You see it in Book 2, you see it in the first Camp Vargas, you see it in his different vignettes.
Agh! You've forced me to rant and yap! Curses! Leona is a character I am passionate about even if I don't talk about him very much. When people say "His overblot was stupid!" I actually understand him entirely. You try being told by everyone around you every day of your life that you're worth less than salt and see how you turn out.

Poll: negativity edition: What do you dislike most abt the hazbin hotel series
The amount of swearing (we get it)
The pacing (would love to be able to breathe/ 8 eps is not enough for the story)
The amount of characters (lets focus on establishing the mains first)
The artstyle (hurts the eyes/ not great for animation)
The moral (which is…)
The music (not my taste)
I dont dislike anything in the series!
i dislike something else the most
These are common criticisms I’ve seen floating around from the top of my head
