The party at the castle was grander than you could ever imagine. You were doing your best to stay close to Silver since he was the only other human at the party. You spoke with Malleus for a while before he had been pulled away by a very important group of Fae women, and you had yet to see Lilia. Silver usually has no difficulty in spotting his Father. But tonight's game of I Spy has left the two of you tired and throwing in the towel. “Silver..?” You called out to his sleeping form.
It was getting late.
Most Fae are nocturnal so the party would go on until dawn. But you were ready for bed, you were shivering from the castle’s inescapable chill, and your heels made your feet ache. “Now, now, that’s not a face to make while attending a party!” The cheerful tone made your previously wilting figure to perk up again. Your lashes fluttered as you spotted Lilia. He moved to sit at your table across from you and Silver. “Hi- Oh my gosh me and Silver were looking for you.” You grinned as you moved in closer, and Silver gave another snore.
“I know. I was enjoying our game of hide and seek.” He teased as the two of you began to banter. You did miss Lilia more than you thought you would. “Why don’t you come with me to the bar for a drink?” Lilia offered as your eyebrows raised. You weren’t old enough to drink. “Oh! Sure! What about Silver?” You asked as you looked at your sleeping companion. “Oh he’s fine where he is. I’ll be sure to wake him up before we head home.” Lilia chuckled and rose to his feet. You were quick to join him as you swallowed down your anxiety.
Would they ID you? Do you look too young to drink? You glanced at Lilia as you folded your hands and squeezed them together. It would be fine if you were with him. “You’re old enough to drink aren’t you? Forgive me, in my old age all humans are like babies.” He apologized with a smile and you quickly nodded. “I’m old enough.” You assured him, hoping he wouldn’t catch your lie. “Good.” He smirked as the bar ahead catered to a small number of guests around the wooden counter. One of them had fallen asleep just as Silver did, couple closer to the edge were chatting and slurring away as their glasses remained empty.
Lilia took your hand and helped you up onto the soft, leather stool in the middle of the bar. Then, he took his place beside you. It was a very new and exciting feeling. The polished wood beneath your fingers looked even shinier up close. The bartender eyed you in silence before turning to Lilia with a frown. “How old’s the human?” The bartender asked as you shifted nervously in your seat. “Oh, don’t be that way. You know they look like children no matter how old they are. You remember Baul’s son-in-law!” Lilia snapped as the other Fae started to chuckle. The two of them must be on good terms.
You started to calm down as Lilia ordered a ‘Vodka Cran, hold the Cran’. “What did you want dear?” Lilia asked as he rested his chin in the palm of his hand. You looked at him, then the bar counter. “The same thing as you.” You didn’t have a drink of choice prepared and you saw Lilia smile in amusement. “The girl wants a vodka cran.” You couldn’t help but give a few small kicks of your feet from glee.
You were happy that you got to share a drink with Lilia.
As the night went on, you discovered the wonders of alcohol. The fruit and intense burn made your face warm, and a smile etched onto your features. You couldn’t remember the many glasses you finished before both the bartender and Lilia decided it was enough for you. “Come with me, let’s get your coat.
