Six for Saturday
Once upon a time, I never really followed directions, I always made my way as best I could. I pretended to fit in. I chose the “compliant” route.
I was never in trouble, and always had lots of leverage. I was allowed to use my own judgement. I was always on time, and always called if I would be late, or if I would end up spending the night, instead.
I knew the consequences of breaking the rules, and walked on the very edge at times. Risking all, with a confident smile to the general public. Sometimes I played it safe, but overall, I was more foolish than wise.
All this in spite of the nagging insistence deep within that made me so sure I would never survive my teen years. I knew I would die young, but that somehow never stopped me from living on the edge, and taking big risks.
I drove fast, experimented with drugs, climbed around on roofs and treetops, at night, played with fire (literally), and generally sought thrills and entertainment with a barely-throttled reckless abandon.
I always fooled myself into thinking that I was the compliant child. The person who tends to follow the rules. I had everyone else fooled, and I almost bought it too. I follow nothing but my own compass. I am just really good at blending in.
Never mind anon, i think i might have got it. But wait i need to change my theme
