remember
it is not what goes into you that makes you dirty, it is what comes out of you.
fall off the wagon when you must, but always be kind (to yourself and others)

Breaking News: Some Bullshit Happening Somewhere
weird dreams
I had a dream that a UFO was flying near, and you could just make out an energy field around it, as it came down for a landing. Once it was on the ground, and the energy field was down, you could see that it was actually an old, white pickup truck with a trailer, suped up with some anti-grav tech or something.
They were coming in to park at the building where I was, and I knew they were aliens, and they were coming in the door I was standing by, so I ran (in a dream, as best I could, with my legs bound by bedsheets), and they arrived.
There were two of them, and one was like a human, but with a fat neck, and he was known as the best “salesman” in the galaxy. if you are in his presence, you are basically owned. The other was a narrow tube of blue liquid, maybe his sidekick? Not sure.
I tried to evade them at first, out of fear, but eventually realized they knew my whereabouts anyway, despite my efforts, and they did not care. They were not here for anything to do with me. (I was worried for no real reason).
I think it all morphed into some kind of adventure, but I can’t remember it all clearly, but thought that the parts that I could remember were strange enough to share with you guys.
You’re welcome.
My weight loss journey
I have been overweight since high school. That was almost four decades ago (early 80′s). In my mid to late 20′s I was married with two children and got a job at a chemical plant. I worked outdoors for 10+ hours (weekends off) for five and a half years. I lost a lot of weight in that time, mostly because food would bog me down at work (very physical job), and I was too tired to care in the evenings... on top of the 10 hours of sun-baked, sweaty, manual labor. I quickly got cured of soft drinks when I drank a coke at lunch one day, and was so thirsty the rest of the afternoon that I could not drink enough water to feel right, and I was so full that I was sick. Water only after that, until they set up Gatorade for us out there. Even today I still drink water all day and with all of my meals. All through the years I was overweight, and it got worse when I started traveling for work. All expenses paid trips to any restaurant for a week or few. I lived it up for many years. Around my mid 40s, I was 286 pounds, and all of my numbers were “borderline” (slightly high cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, etc.) Doc told me that if I would lose some of the weight, all these numbers would get better. I did not want to be on any meds... so, I finally decided that
enough was enough.
I started strong at first, and lost 30 pounds within the first few months. 10% of my body weight. A milestone. I was still pretty heavy, and the numbers hadn’t changed much yet, but it was an achievement. I looked forward to every small incremental achievement. It was easier to tie my shoes. I slept a little better. Clothes fit differently. I had been on diets before, and had lost, and regained. This time I was not dipping deep into the pond for all I could get. I was on a slow, steady trajectory down. Making small lifestyle changes every few months or so. No cookies or donuts was one of the first rules. I slowed way down on fast food, fried foods... Still drank a lot of beer, ate a lot of cheese... I realized that I will never succeed by totally restricting anything. I had to make a slow, gentle, but permanent change. Nothing was off limits, but many bad things were no longer regular habits. I would plateau for months, then make some sort of change, small but permanent, and then would continue down. Sometimes it was about exercise, but it really is 80% diet. I have reached the 100 pound mark after several years (seven, maybe?) and I have more to go, so I continue. Today I barely eat red meat or cookies, but I still have my vices. Slow but steady changes seem to be making it happen.

you are a powerful, sovereign being
You don’t always need to believe something. Sometimes you only need to hear it.
Adding it to your consciousness is enough.
Life
The older I get the more I like my life.
It’s not “better” in any way. I am just better at experiencing and reacting to it.
Some say aging is not for the weak. Well, for me, so far, it’s been nothing but reassuring to me.
When I was younger I was afraid of “confidence” in something, because that meant that you no longer searched for the right way, or the truth. You have arrived, and so you don’t need to continue searching, or re-validating, etc.
Well, as you get older, you can still maintain a healthy self-check mindset, and you will still become more confident in some things.
I don’t ever want to become “set in my ways” but, at the same time, I find myself feeling more relaxed and confident about life in general, as I age.
A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.

Finally
Guys, my weight goes up or down by a pound or so on a daily basis, but overall I am still slowly losing it.
I started at 286 a few years ago. I’ve plateaued a few times, and just kept on going.
Today, I weighed 186.2!
I am hitting the 100 pound mark!
