Sure bestie. First of all, Taylor said in this video from Sep 19, 2016 that she's starting the next album and is going back to the studio after being out of work.

SIG – If you want a longwinded response, you can find it here and here. But basically, Oscar said in the interview that it was the last song done with Max and Shellback, so it would've been written in 2017 when his son was born.

Dress – The verses, pre-chorus and chorus sound like an fwb type situation imo, so it makes sense that she wrote down one-liners in 2016. And then some time in 2017, she wrote the bridge and put everything together. That's not to say she couldn't have also taken inspiration from character dynamics etc, but the timeline definitely does work.

KOMH – None of us are ~claiming it was written in September, we just counted backwards. There's a more detailed explanation here, and we've talked about the August theory too. Idk what anon is getting at with the E! article, because many of their sources are made up, and no one hints at lyrics in meaningless fluff articles anyway.

Gorgeous – Again, I have no idea what point they’re trying to make, but the Making of a Song dates here and here are correct.

Realising she and Hiddles weren't compatible and leaving, showing up to that dive bar, telling Joe that she had feelings for him, opening up to him emotionally, deciding not to push him away, disappearing from the public eye, and also just.... realising that she needed to try her absolute best to work through what she was dealing with and climb up the cliff, so to speak.

Yeah like that co-writer said Max and Shellback had already done half the album with Taylor when they wrote SIG, so there’s 2 possibilities here:

A) rep was completely finished in 2015, all the making of a song videos are staged, the video from Sep 2016 where Taylor says she’s going back to work and finally starting the new album is also staged, she lied about being burnt out and not writing much during 1989, she also lied about only being inspired after her life took a dramatic shift in 2016 because the shift wasn’t that dramatic and that year wasn’t that bad 🙄

B) because Oscar’s Swedish, and English isn’t his first language, the phrasing was slightly off and he meant that they wrote it when his wife had just had a baby. Taylor replacing another song on rep with SIG, 2 months before the album’s release would be in character for her, because F&A was added to Fearless 1 month before

I just know people who say sig was written in 2015 simply haven’t read oscar’s full interview. do they realize he SAID, his own words, that half of the album was done already? At this point they don’t want to face the truth. It’s not a theory, he confirmed it lmao
